It's time to succession plant fall flowers so that we have lots of gorgeous blooms to cut and sell later in the year! The lily that I called Silver Moon is actually Eastern Moon. Sorry about that mistake!

I'm always so impressed by your ability to keep up with all your different beds and planting times. Everything looks so cohesive & put together, while mine all just look like hot messes, ha ha
I feel like the flower ice bucket is something that might look more impressive if it sat on a clear glass pedestal that maybe was placed inside a larger, yet shallow glass dish filled with water and more floating fresh flowers. This way, as the ice melted, it might look somewhat like a water feature of dripping water into another water feature, if that makes sense. I do agree that more ice cubes with frozen flowers in them might be a good idea too, but this is a lot of work for something that won't last.

I just love your garden and your inspiring tips on growing - thank you so much for sharing! - That Hydrangea room really looks glorious! -
Here in Norway we do use the method of freezing flowers in buckets - but we do it mainly in the winter time when it is snowing and freezing outside. Then instead of using it as an ice bucket you can put fairly lights or candles inside them and they become these beautiful ice sculptures lit up from inside. Excellent for lining the entrance area for instance. I sometimes use some of the Amaryllis that are about to go over for this. Can look really nice for the Holiday celebrations, and the bonus is that there is way less cleanup when they eventually melt --

Hi Danielle, I was wondering how you keep groundhogs and raccoons from eating many of your flowers. My sunflowers, cosmos and even marigolds got devoured by them. I had to secure my veggie bed with chicken wire to salvage my peppers and tomatoes. Lettuce and swiss chard were the first to be eaten before installing the chicken fencing. lol. If you have any advice or tips on how to minimize the damage please let me know. I've noticed that your beds are not protected and that you don't seem to have these issues. Thank you for your videos they are truly inspiring.

Funny thing. I removed the ranunculus from my tree garden, which were my first success, sprout to bloom and the squirrels or rabbits started break off the straw flower stalks. Has that ever happened to you or anyone? It was my first attempt for cool flowered not much grew. Many challenges. Anyways thanks for the tour and bringing us along. The ice flower bowl is cool! I put the flowers face out. looks better to me. I used milk cartons. flowers stay put for the most part. Then rip off the carton.

Danielle, can you tell me what the soil in your raised beds consist of and if/how you amend them each new planting season? This is my first year with raised beds and I feel like my ratio is off in these beds because my cut flowers are not thriving like they did last year in the ground - we are in the midst of a long drought here in Western New York so that hasnt helped either. anyway hoping you can help with info on the raised beds: ) thank you!

Hi Danielle, thanks for a great video as usual! The ice bucket was a cool idea! Lol, no pun intended. Please, please let me know any experience you've had with the SLFlies. I just discovered the nymphs on my rose bushes last week. I reported to NJ dept agriculture. Only thing so far that's worked is dawn dish soap. Unfortunately, I can't seem to get any other info on what to do. Are they going to ruin my garden or am I panicking for no reason?

I've been having problems with Japanese beetles on some of my petunias & not thinking, I sprayed them with Sevin spray roughly around 6pm on a sunny hot day (I live in West Virginia) about 30 mins later they appear to be bleached/burnt! - I'm so upset with myself! I've been trying to research & haven't had much luck with what to do. Ahhhh! HELP! If anyone knows what to do or has ANY info plzzz let me kno. Thank u!

Your gardens are very beautiful. Although I'm in my 70's I'm a fairly new gardener. I was busy nursing and waited till I retired. I love getting in the yards and working hard to make them beautiful. I need tips on preparing the soil, my biggest problem no it seems. What did you put on your lilac's after you planted them? Any tips on lime, manure, etc? Thank you for the videos.

Thanks for the video, never thought of sowing love in a mist for a fall harvest will do that today, l pulled out bupleurum and was thinking of sowing some more on the east side of the house where it gets afternoon shade, have you ever tried it for fall? My flower stand has slowed down a bit which is typical for me in July, I live in the same county as you.

I just have a garden, garden, harvesting to share with family, and I take a bouquet to my post office on Monday's, I'm just 2 doors. After seeing this tho, I think I'm going to sow things I forgot. Gosh, I completely forgot about the spotted lantern menus, I haven't seen those yet here on the shore in Maryland, hope to never see that Joro spider.

I think the ice bucket looks like a bowl because you used a bowl for the mold? If you use an ice bucket, I think it will look like one. And I do think you could definitely use more flowers, maybe think of it like decoupage and layer it with some leaves. But very good for a first try! I like Rose of Sharon, too, and everything looks amazing -

Your garden is so beautiful. I definitely need to add more lillies! I am still planting some of my winter sowing out of their containers, i am pulling some of the poppies, and putting in snapdragons.
We added more vegetable beds this year, and I am still figuring those out, and putting in some more crops now i have pulled some.

Garden looking awesome, it-s changing so fast I would love to see maybe 2 garden tour in this months where things changes fast! Also for the bucket if you boil the water and let it cool down before freezing it you can get clearer ice (no bubbles no cloudy parts) Also how is the dynatrap going? Does it work? Thank for your content!

Very -cool- idea with the flower ice bucket - - - it's been soo dry here. Big drought going on and lawns are brown and cripsy. One plus about that is there doesn't seem to be very many mosquitoes! - I hadn't thought about sowing more love in a mist. Now you got me thinking I should start that too lol

You sold me on starting some nigella esp since I-m in 9b and have lots of time-. But the Love in the Mist has turned in to Grief in the Smoky haze of California. No germination at all - even tho my sunflowers and heat tolerant broccoli-s popped right up-? Should I have put the seeds in the fridge before planting?

I-m learning so much from your videos. I do have a question. I have some ornamental kale and viola seeds that I-d like to plant out in the fall in my 6b central KS garden. When should I start those seeds? We are in a two week span of over 100 degree temps, but I don-t want to miss my window and start too late.

I love the ice bucket! I think you are right that maybe taller would be better, I-m thinking a black floral harvest bucket might do the trick. I want to try this now: ) I love your rose lilies, I ordered a bunch this year and they haven-t bloomed just yet so it-s nice to see yours.

You are such an inspiration! I have just planted my fourth Sunflower succession, and the third Zinnia one, but you have inspired me to plant Nigella and Cerinthe. I am also waiting patiently for my Editha Lily to bloom. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and love for the garden.

Beautiful lilies! You are such a good example to anyone thinking about growing and selling flowers and the work and planning it takes to keep on as long as you can with those succession plants. Rocky was very cute and was really enjoying his garden time with you.

You mentioned how you choose when to plant your flowers. for anyone that needs more help with succession planting veggies, I know my local university (UIUC) extension office has a really detailed planting guide for any veggie you could think of.
