Hi Sean - does your wife worry when you go out solo on such trips? Mine does. I prefer solo trips, but she doesn't like me going on them. I've never had an incident/accident, am very cautious by nature, 44 years old, and been camping, hunting hiking, bushcrafting since before I was a teenager. I have a 4 night solo BWCA trip for May 2018. going after some lakers and splake. she's already giving me some grief over it. Only gonna get worse I fear the closer the trip gets. I even agreed to take a sat phone with me on my trip for the first time, but she is still grumping over it. What's a solo canoe tripper to do? I am afraid to tell her I am thinking about a Woodland Caribou Provincial Park trip for late summer or early autumn.

To Shawn James: I'm writing here for the first time, so, I'm not even sure if I'm doing' this right. I am hereby expressing my deep admiration for you. From what I've heard and seen from you, I feel like I would have been honored to work for you. I was really sorry to hear your story about your former employee that betrayed you after you and your wife helped him so much. The good news is that you still retain your big heart and disposition to help, yet you are a stronger and more evolved being. You give me hope and re-affirm me that everything is not lost, for there are still people like you in this world who make life woth living. Keep up your good work and keep flourishing my friend!

Having arrived on Little Hawk Lake in the Haliburton Highland for the first time in 1948 when I was 4 months old and having to leave some 50 years plus later (US guy having to move around too much, I simply love watching your videos and presentation of the beauty in the same way I always enjoyed it. I miss it terribly.

Great video! Thanks for sharing! My first and only solo trip was a 5 day trip up to Sunbeam through much of the same area - I made it through 2 intense lightening / rain storms, and got snowed on a little the 3rd night. Character building experience for sure: )

Where did you stow your food when camping out? My friend and I do backwoods trips each year, but he brings more gear than an SAS soldier - I'm trying to give him some perspective on how much lighter we could go. Would you be willing to share a gear list?

Amazing footage. I'm backtracking to catch all your past videos. Just want to mention as you like to meditate that there is a great app called Insight Timer worth exploring. It is much more than a timer.

So nice, thank you. Interesting how these older vids haven't been viewed as much - this one was only 7341 in Feb'18.
I recommend everyone go trough the back list of Shawn's stuff.
