Finally, an update to the log cabin build! There is a lot going on in this video. I build a log bench for the fireside, I investigate the 2nd log cabin site beside the pond, I clear more of the log cabin site, I check on water levels in the stream, cut notches in the final logs of the cabin, split rocks for the fireplace and talk about why I'm not using power tools or assistance from other people

I notice you don't seem to have too many mosquitoes. The damselfly that lit on your hat could be one reason, They eat a lot of mosquitoes. Dragonflies have a nymph stage in the water and eat mosquito larvae. Their mouthpart is on a hinge to trap the insect. Pieces of birch or willow fungus were burned on a plate to repel mosquitoes. A small piece of willow fungus can be used as a moth ball in a closet or drawer. Once dried and pounded, birch fungus makes a good fire starter that can be ignited with a flint and steel.

They had someone else build it for them. Then they have put money into all the latest like electricals inside that's not camping in the wilderness that's cheating. Bring your TV to the cabin micro wave etc. That's not living in the wild Tess by the land rules that is making it convenient for you away from home. They have rig up their lighting in what they call a cabin. Lazy lazy cabin doets in the wilderness. Cheating with the wild living.

To repeat other postings, its your cabin, your desire for self fulfillment, and your motive in life. There are always critics, they usually have nothing better to do that proclaim their own self importance and probably never even built a kit shed themselves, but they sure know more than anybody. Sure, I might build a cabin differently, MY CABIN not yours so, build the thing the way you want too and the heck with the critics

Shawn, Im 68, arthritic and have degenerative discs that dont support much,
but you give me incentive to do what I can. Ive started doing basic carpentry,
building things in my small shop. I cant get enough of your videos. Just wish
I was there working by your side. Keep going, stay safe and healthy. I think
your are inspiring and helping many. Peace and love to you, brother.

Im a builder. Im 56 and I started with my father when I was 11. I think building in the vane of pioneers or those who are too far from civilization to build by standards is a monumental and expensive task. Frankly I admire the fortitude and craftsmanship you exude everyday. Keep it up and stay to true to your heart brother.

Hi Shawn, I love watching ALL of your videos and wish I could do the same but, to old now. I cried when I heard you say you had to move away from all you have worked so hard for but I know you will be fine and make it another beautiful place to live, such a shame you had to have such bad neighbors. Love to Cali and big hugs.

Been watching MSR for about a year now. First comment. Inspirational. I love what you're doing. Educational as well. I learn something I can use almost every episode. This one was the quick and easy bench seat. I'll do it!

It's amazing to come back and view your old content and to see what you've already accomplished this far. It looks more open with far more grass then now what's going on. Keep pushing.
YOUR SUCH AN INSPIRATION

Try to live in the middle of a forest in solitude ONLY for a couple of months and you will understand. but for that you have to leave the toxic comforts of the city. For my part only respect and admiration.
