My property in central Ontario west of Algonquin Park is full of yellow birch trees and many of them have chaga fungus growing on them. In this video, I process some of the chaga into tea and fire tinder. Frank: so looks like technically you can also use chaga as a way to transport live amber with you for fire starting? will that spongy are work for that. what did that brew taste like. cool informative video, thanks!

You don't need to pound the character to a powder! Goodness. while you can do this, it is not necessary at all!
NEVER EVER boil your chaga your killing the nutrients! We put small chunks in water on the wood stove during the winter and leave it! We add new water in the evening to replace what we drank during the day. It will keep making tea like this for 2 weeks. You can tell when it is time for new chunks. We never refrigerate it. Just leave it on the wood stove all the time constantly steeping but NEVER boiling it.

Great video, Shawn. Thanks for sharing. I'd like to see some more videos of you cooking campfire meals too. You have a very healthy appetite: )

Interesting stuff. Why so long to simmer it? Unsafe to consume if done less time, or just not getting fullest possible benefits?
