Watch me and my golden retriever Cali in the Canadian wilderness at our off grid cabin. I built this sauna in the forest using hand tools and I am looking forward to using it this winter

Absolutely love everything. You do in your off grid venture so jealous in many way my dream would be to retire now and buy a plot of land and build my own although at 55 with bone cancer might be a bit difficult (although in full remission) so I shall dream instead watching your fantastic video so please dont stop I thought occurred to me I see you often getting in/out your solar panel have you ever thought of building a wind farm somewhere up in the trees as I would think sun/light/wind is always there really like you chat about being disconnected from nature in your previous video I live in Kent in England also call the Garden of England so am fortunate we have a lovely red setter 2yrs old now who loves out local forest I simply could not leave without this connection to nature (was borne in the French Alpes) have a great day Alain

My husband and I are Brazilian. We follow your story, make us have more faith, strength, courage for the days that seem impossible. Many things that we thought we could never accomplish became a new goal. thank you for your story, thank you for sharing with us. Although it is a little difficult to watch and still go to Google translator to understand your messages well. It's worth your self confidence. Tell us if you want to live there always, talk about your family too. Your companion dog friend is sensational. Hugs Oliveira Family Cris and Marcos Rio Grande do Sul Brazil.

I find all this process very fascinating and captivating. A single man building a homestead in the wilderness, alone, by himself is so remarkable. Coming close to nature to live with it so very beautiful.
I want to watch it from the very first video, and going in that specific order but finding it really hard to find the way to it. Can u pls guide me as to how to go about it?
There seems to be two types of videos. one where you talk and the other where you work quietly.
There is no numbering to the videos. Pls guide me. Thanks

Elizabeth L. Johnson said, Where's the wheelbarrow, man, for those river rocks? Well, actually that weight carrying is mighty good for bone density. Music at the end is a little to un-cheerful for me, and un-woodsy. Absolutely love watching Cali and her shenanigans! Hoping to soon see your finished long house. Seems to me that things in the outdoors are never complex but simple. Nature is simple and outright. Your sauna steps are simple and efficient! Good job. Praying for your house to sell.

Greeting from the south pacific, new fan here. Really enjoyed you're other video where you start building the cabin. That was very soothing and it's the closet thing I could imagine putting myself in that scenario of being totally from stresses of city life. So thank you for sharing what you do. Much appreciated.

I love how everything is lighting up and opening up now, with the leaves gone from the trees. Cali is soooo brilliant as your helper on this project. Also I really appreciate your choice of music and the glorious drone shots for the last 2 minutes or so. so beautiful Shawn, thank you.

Self reliance is not about what you build, but the act of building, to have a project that you manage to the end. And then what? You start a new project, that self reliance for a man.
By the way, thank you for your video, a voice far away from the black forest

Will you please share how you sharpen your chopper 1 splitting axe? I bought one a year ago because of your videos and love it, but it needs sharpening and I cant find any utube videos that show how to do it. Any comments or how to do it would be very welcome!

I'm glad that you have Cali to help you move and pack the dirt for your while building, lol. I think it's great that you have included from the very beginning. I can't be the only one who thinks of her as our virtual dog. (don't tell my Sassy I said that)

I love that into music. really gets you going. Please play more! Thank you. Can't help but watch your videos, you being a handsome guy and all and the things you make is a wonder. Did you learn all of this from your men folks in your family?
