You are going to have a hell of a book to write some day Shawn, a resource on survival. Family friend took over our scrubbed lot abandoned homestead, with much bare rock or swamp. . as I was too ill to continue. they decided to invest in 3 or 4 x 80 yd loads of fine mulch from a a nearby bush mill, plus about 80yds of mature horse and chicken poo, rotten/mouldy straw and hay bales. all stockpiled. from there they amended and re amended the original garden areas using horse cart /sled. production is easily 5 fold on what we had, and raised the garden level by about a ft now with 18 organic soil A horizon. our irrigation was the proverbial feast or famine. until they put in an impoundment with a gravity + system. plenty water for irrigation and brown water uses. drinking water from an old well plus catchment and a pump to tank so never any waste of rainwater, plenty storage. I found peace and solace at a time when i needed it. peace and quiet, hard work, fishing and hunting. best therapy of all.

You could also try to do some fertiliser with nettle, if you have some around. I don't know if you tried before.
Just fill a container with water (water bottle, etc) and put a bunch of nettle inside. Then close it and shake it to mix everything. Wait a couple days (maybe less, maybe more) and you can water your plants with it. You can add it to the water you use for the plants. Just be careful with the bottle you use, try open it once a day to release the gas from the fermentation.

Awesome work. Just a heads up if you dont already know tera peta doesnt add much value in northern climates. There is a certain worm which is only found in more tropical climates particulary south and central america. This worm eats charcoal and produces a waste which regenerates the tera peta. This worm wont grow in your climate and while you are adding good nutrients to the soil it wont be terra peta like you find in the south.

Garden is looking excellent, tomatoes should give you a great harvest. Watch your San Marzanos for blossom end rot they are very susceptible to it. It's usually from a lack of calcium in the soil (or lack of adequate soil moisture which causes a lack of the roots ability to absorb calcium after high rains) or too much nitrogen, I find a little Epsom salt during the fruiting season helps by adding magnesium to the soil.

Shawn, I really like watching your videos. You have taught me a lot. I would really like to know if you have any information about your cooking recipes and/or spices that you use for your various dishes. I live in Jacksonville FL, and no matter how hard we try we cant get anything to grow, but recently I dumped some pumpkin seeds in a hole and I have about 10 plants growing. Hardiest plant I know of.
