This is a first for me - catching a species of fish for the first time in a place not well known for them. Jim Baird, winner of History's Alone, and I head deep into Algonquin Park to chase brook trout and lake trout but end up with two additional species that we did not expect to find where we did. This was my first time ever catching this type of fish and it was incredible cooked on a rock over the campfire and was even better the following day fried on a cast iron skillet. Along with the fish on the fire, we roasted a turkey let from the wild turkey I harvested earlier in the week. If you're interested in wilderness adventure, you need to check out Jim's YouTube Channel by clicking here;

I had a thought while watchingnthis video.
You use your camera and I asume you need to charge it up after the days fishing.
I have seen a tow behind generator that seems to workmvery well for its size and would supply you power needs while out camping as you can tether it in good running water duringnthe evening.
I have no idea as to the cost but maybe a 12v car genrator can be made waterproof and do the same thing, just a thought.
Nice looking trout by the way, helps fill the food locker for winter im sure.

I watched the man who built a log cabin in the woods of Alaska in the 60's I couldn't get enough. He made his own bowls and lattels out of wood and furniture. He dug a root cellar in the ground. He left in his 80's and donated to Alaska. You remind me of him. I love your videos! I have a son your age his birthday is April 14. I don't think he would have your patience. Maybe for golfing but not building things. Lol!
Thanks for sharing!

Every single time I watch your videos I feel kind of sad in a way because I keep wasting so much time of my life with a job that I hate and other useless tasks.
And then I try to think about a cold January night, when you freeze off your balls at the outdoor toilet, while I just go to the warm bathroom.
So there is always two sides to each story: ) Greetings from Austria

Hey Shawn. My name is Ricky. While watching your videos, I sometimes see you breaking sticks using your knee. I use to do that. I am 62 now and I can barely walk because my knees are in such bad shape and, I believe that type of activity contributed to that in a big way. Word to the wize.

Hey Shawn, wouldn't it be great if you created a musical intro on that Banjo hanging in the cabin, invite a few friends to join in and see what happens. If I was there I'd add some bass.
