If you are thinking about having like a farm like animals there. that's mean that there should be somebody there full time. but I would like to suggest since there wild free roaming animals such as deer, turkey and such. you just provides some eating zone somewhere around there and you can hunt them when the season aloud it. maybe like goat n horses would be extra help in carrying your stuff. like in the u tube fire box.

Yes to the chickens, turkeys, ducks, pigs, a goat or two and a basic vegetable or herb garden. Can you plant corn that far north? With beans or tomatoes? How about feral quail? I have NO idea what could survive where you are. I-m in NZ, so a bit unfamiliar with your fauna! The cameras are fascinating. You would probably need only one or two pretty turkeys to lure in some wild ones.

When I was about 13-14 years (60 years ago) old my buddy and I shot a woodchuck and tied the carcass to an over hanging branch on the stream that flowed through our farm. after a couple of days the maggots started dropping into the pool below and a small piece of pipe cleaner tied to the shank of the hook resulted in some great trout fishing.

I think livestock and a blacksmithing shop should be added to the Homestead. Maybe a guest house for me down at the pond with a porch dock preferably. -

Chickens, rabbits, and a big ol piggy would be very cool there! Also you could set up a coal forge house to make your own hooks/arrowheads etc.
