My Dad always talked about cooking young crows he and his brothers would kill. They would cook them in clay. They simply covered the bird after they gutted it. But they left the feathers on. He said they would put in a hole in the ground where they had a fire. When they were getting ready to sleep. Covering them with some coals and dirt. Inthe morning they would dig them out and ctack them open. He said the feathers pretty much pulled off with the dry mud. He said they tasted great and very juicy

Bet you already knew Birch bark literally contains natural aspirin. The strong smell when peeled is the natural chemical version. Just saying, it might be bitter, but a light tea might help with aches and pains. A light tea. LIGHT!
-Aspirin causes the blood to thin, is a powerful anticoagulant so go super easy with any natural remedy. they are more powerful than you think!

That knot weed is so damaging. If you don't cook it before throwing it out it will grow wherever it ends up. It can actually grow through concrete. There are laws around disposal of this plant in the UK due to structural damage it causes to buildings. Eating it is definitely one way to get rid of it though lol

You could easily have dug up a huge amount of dirt and made the shape of the oven with a pit inside for the fire and made more efficient stick or tool to hold the meat. Might as well take time to do it so that spot is oven trail ready -
