I'm glad I watched your video, I was looking for a reel that my hands could handle as I've had surgeries on them because of arthritis, but also living on minimal funds I can't afford to spend crazy prices, plus I haven't fished in years and really want to start again. Can you recommend a fishing rod that's reasonably priced as well? Just so you know- I'm in NYC, I guess I'd be doing more salt water fishing unless I can escape to the country and do lake fishing, but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! :)

The cheap chinese oem baitcasters offer more bang for your buck compared to budget options from bigger companies. Thats because shimano daiwa and lews like to reserve more features for their higher priced reels, as a result their budget reels are lacking. These chinese companies come along then offer, shielded bearings, brass gears, doyo braking, bearing supported main gears and etc. Id say that honestly the manufacturer sets the quality not the country of origin, good job piscifun

Great video Brandon, and you seem like a super good dude. As an older guy and parent to 3 grown kids, I say kudos to your parents/grandparents/guardians, whoever raised you. And kudos to YOU. I m not trying to hijack your message, but I've had great luck with the Quantum Pulse, less than 40 on many sites. I love catching bass on affordable equipment!

New to baitcaster reels (Ive always used spinning reels. why do you reel in with your dominant hand? With spinning reels I always have used my dominant hand to hold the pole and reeled with my left hand. Why is a bait caster not the same? And if I wanted to reel it the same way I do spinning reels could I just buy a left handed bait caster?

Walmart has a Lew's Speed Spool (Mark Rose signature) for like 50 and a 6'10 medium heavy Lew's casting rod (Hank Parker signature) for 40. That's a nice Lew's setup for under 100. Hard to beat it. I have also seen Lew's American Hero and Mach I setups for 75-80 on sale at Dick's. I am in Indiana so prices may vary for your location.

Has anyone, other than me, ever wondered why when someone reviews a reel, they spin the handle about 500 times. It must have something to do with the Fidget Spinner phenomenon or something. Surely by the time the handle spinning is over we can draw the conclusion that the reel is not locked up. What else?

Someone who reviews inexpensive equipment honestly on YouTube will be making a big contribution. There are lots of guys out there advertising this or that expensive equipment that I will never buy. This is much more practical for most people I suspect.

I own about 10-12 cheap bait casters and the 2 best ones I own are the Abu Garcia Black Max 6. 3: 1 and the Abu Garcia Silver Max 6. 3: 1. I also own a couple Shimano bait casters and they have nothing on the Abu Garcia's. Just my honest opinion.
