In this video I rescue big fish stuck in tiny ponds! Guest: Bluegill sunfish aka bream. You need a dipnet, the kind commonly used for red salmon dipnetting, It has a 15 foot pole with a 6 foot net on the end of it. That would catch all the fish. Some are box shaped as well and you could just drag it from one side of the little pond to the other.

As someone who handles fish u could have harmed/killed the easily thru stress and technically without acclimation but in the area ur at it probably isnt necessary but having an artificial fish coat will reduce stress and increase health exponentially

We grew up with the Gar is the Colorado river in central Texas. They were 3 to 4 feet long! We knew to stay clear of them, and they are not good to eat. Thanks for saving the fish Jordan.

honestly those gar would be fine in those ponds, gar have lungs and can breathe oxygen from air. I have seen gar in canals the size of a ditch, one was a four or five footer

I don't know if anybody else has said this but maybe next time try to bring a rod or two with you and try to catch them that way? May get more fish and more variety of species.

I used to catch trout in ponds below spillways like that when I was your age, with my hands. Get in there. The fish will think you're a fish too and slowly grab them. Really.

try getting one of those massive nets on the stick or whatever you call them and pick them out the water when you get them close and in reach ti your net using the bait

Next time, bring a small 10-20 watt solar panel, a small pump, and 20' of tubing, drain the pools and all the fish will be concentrated into a smaller area.

Next time try a long gill net with a 2nd person. You'll be able to catch them a whole lot easier. Wtg on rescuing the fish, I used to have a needlenose gar

this is hardly a dried up pond, but thanks anyway. perhaps thank the fish gods after you take the fish off the rocks. Thanks for the overdramatization
