Back in the eighties when I worked for Northwest Tropical Fish Hatchery Incorporated we had some lionfish in the Marine section and I was doing something in one of the tanks and got stung by a lionfish middle finger right hand and I immediately treated it like a rattlesnake bite. You know tourniquet the finger off from the rest of the bloodstream and start squeezing the blood out of it to get the poison out of the finger. I'm doing this as I'm walking up to the office to ask the boss do we have anything for lionfish stings? Which set everybody in the office into a panic that I got stung by a lionfish and the boss Alan asked which one I said my middle finger and flipped him off to show him. he said no which lionfish so I took him back out into the Hatchery to show him which one of the lionfish had stung me. We get to the tank and this lion fish that stung me isn't looking too good about 10 minutes later it was Belly Up. So I get stung by a lionfish and it dies. I didn't even get sick.

Lion fish aren't supposed to be deadly to healthy humans, it just hurts like hell for a few hours or so. Assuming proper treatment is given of course, as untreated wounds/stings can be dangerous. We had to study them extensively with my environmental science professor, everyone who got stung hated them immediately LOL. It seems that diving and using a spear would've been more efficient than moving around and fishing, as they often cluster together near the bottom. Great video though: )

I love the videos but I have a question what do you mean when you called the yellow tails flag fish. I've never heard someone call one that. Again great video and I was really happy to find a fellow female fisher on YouTube I don't think I have seen one I've been looking forever. Definitely a subscription from me

There should be a cruzade against lion fish using efficient capture methods as drag them by large suction hoses into big net cages to be lifted above sea level and after send to be processed as animal food or manure.

Hey lady, coming from a fellow lady angler, can women go pro?
Because we love our men but they dominate this sport, and I've never seen a woman sponsored by anyone for any competition.

lionfish are actually not deadly. The only way you could die from them is if you're allergic to the venom just like a bee sting but if that happens you just need an epi pen

Lionfish are actually very good eating as I understand it, a nice white fleshed fish with a mild flavor. Gotta be careful when you get them in the boat though.

Groupers are still trying to recover from over fishing in the past. Get those lion fish but try to go easy on the others.
