Darcy: Fun video. Keep up the good work. I'm not a fish ID snob so I'm not dissing you and I looked it up before posting. The bluegill with the long gill (opercular) flap was not a bluegill. It was either a longear, red breast or warmouth sunfish. So you caught three species - and learned a new word - opercular. (I looked that up, too)

It's fun catching those panfish. I catch them all summer long on canned sweet kernel corn. Stays on the hook better than break and it never fails (at least in Colorado. Let the haters hate Darci. we love you and we want you to keep on fishin'! Not everyone wants the same old fishing show. this is fresh, fun, and inspiring.

3: 00 I caught those on Lake Okeechobee a couple years ago after being gone 24yrs. I thought it looked weird and asked a local Guide/friend. found out those are called Mayan Cichlids not bluegill.

If you haven't tried them, the Berkley Chroma Glo crappie nibbles work pretty good on blue gill and crappie here in Bama. Just put them on hook on jigs like Roadrunners.

Long ear sunfish, your not micro fishing your panfish.
You can eat those panfish for dinner. Those panfish eat the micro fish.
But you do great.

have you eaten blue gill? it is good, besides catfish it is the type of fish i have had most often. only other is store bought.
