The only large Mako Shark I ever hooked was at the exact same time another hooked a huge Cobia (it's possible the Cobia was following the Mako, with the Mako pretty much doing, and going, what and where it wanted it was agreed to cut my line (we've all had those fish that got away) in fear of losing the Cobia, which was successfully landed, it was thought it was worn out but was still way too green to take a gaffing without protest, it liked to beat the shit out of the surrounding deck before it was subdued. - FYI, the Remora is currently the only fish in the Ocean that's in the same family as Cobia.

Great video but that electronic knife is just plain junk - using your other knives you can feel what your doing, and make adjustments as needed, but with an electric knife its literally too mechanical - cant show any love to your fish that way -
P. s. i saw absolutely no benefit of cutting the aka anal area?

I think you did really well with an electric knife first time out. I was using one back in the mid '80's, especially when there was a lot to do. The serrated blade works great taking the filet's off the skin on the larger fish, they don't turn as well as the regular blades though. .Keep on Fishin'!

Gotta give you props to try an electric knife first time on a Cobia. It wasn't pretty but people don't know how hard that task you took on was! I hate electric knives. I've tried them and done what you did. Good on you for trying something different and learning! Stick with the regular knife from now on!

electric knives should not exist period. they're a hazard especially if you have kids who love to watch horror movies or a paranoid wife
