Very good advice John. Too many of us overlook what is lurking around the harbour wall, jetty, pier or other structure. I've had some brilliant fun on size 12's and a 3rd of a ragworm around pier legs, struts etc in the summer months for loads of species and now and again, a decent ballan for a great fight on light tackle. Love the vids pal, think I may have seen them all by now but never tire of watching folk enjoying our sport. I think the only garfish I ever caught was in Falmouth using smelly old sardines as chum and bread soaked in pilchard oil on the hook. Great fun.

Hi John. I had a look at this mark today at low tide, having previously fished 100 yards to the right, where I caught a couple of small bass. Planning a session soon as it looks great. Will let you know how I get on. Thanks for all your helpful tips, especially floating beads as loads of crabs in river!

When I used to fish in the Cape Fear river in North Carolina, after catching an eel, we would cut the line and re-rig, because we found after the eel had -slimed the line- nothing but eels would bite on that rig no matter how much the line was cleaned and de-slimed.

A small tip (I know this is an old video but)
If you bring a wool blove or sock with you, you can grab the eel with that, and it woint slither out of your grip; )
Some people say a small towel is enough, but i have never tried that myself: )

Great video, enjoyed that! Scratching, other than Mullet fishing, is the only way we can consistently catch in the harbour. Wouldn't mind a snotty to be honest, could do with one for a species hunt, but they certainly are a real handful -

The rock fishing down south is the best I've ever experienced, pollack averaging 4lb and we all had fish double that, on lures. Same right up the top of Scotland, with less big fish.

I don-t understand, whenever I go fishing off pendennis for 4 or 5 hours I catch nothing but you catch half the fish in the harbour - what am I doing wrong? -
