Nice video and relaxing fishing. One suggestion for you and your life fishes. When you hooked a life fish you always hooked from its mouth and coming out back of the head, but my suggestion for you to try for the fish to live longer, It is hooked on its back or its tail end. It will live longer as the mouth is not obstructed and it can breath properly.

I'm not a seafarer. I don't fish. I'm not particularly fond of Cornwall, yet I find John's videos fascinating. They're almost as relaxing as fishing is reputed to be! And if you want a laugh click on the subtitles - the software has obviously never been introduced to a Northumberland accent during its development!

24: 34 Your freezer must be full with fish. I cant think of any other reason for letting such a nice bass go. Or is it maybe not as good when it is bigger! like with carp. In Croatia we would grill this bass (brancin) and serve chard and potatoes with it. Or bake him in salt. And you let him go! Oh man.

Prob sounds like a silly question, have you tried using barbless hooks, i am a fresh water man as i live near to some great rivers and lakes, and its very PC if using barbed hooks, so i always use barbless, are there laws for the sea fishing around what hooks you can use, ie barbed or not?

I caught a Red Gurnard off the boat in Poole in Dorset in 1997. It weighed 3lb 8oz. I gave the fish to my parents to eat. A few months later I found out that the British record was 2lb 9oz. I had thrown away a new record. I was gutted, and the fish was. --

Is it possible to rig up feathers so they're clipped behind an impact lead, then when weight hits bottom it releases hooks? If you could make a rig that doesn't tangle then maybe you could get past the mackerel and to the bottom. Just an idea.

We have many varieties of freshwater bass in Canada. In Ontario I lived on a small river (it spent some spring time in our basement) and caught a 6 lb. widemouth bass that was great eating and a terrific fight. Keep up the good work John.
