I don-t understand your hostility to the kayaker at 15 mins. She-s just doing what she has every right to do, paddling quietly around the foreshore. I understand that the areas you fish are so depleted of quality fish that you have to set your rods a long distance out to get a result, but you don-t own the water or the right to claim a significantly large chunk of it just because your rods are set there. You set your rods in a public place and then try to defend it like a private space. It-s very unlikely the kayaker has any knowledge of fishing and where your line might be. And no, I-m not a kayaker - but I-ve been beach fishing for 50+ years and understand that there are many ways to use the foreshore and a bit of give and take is necessary.

Hi I'm not expert with sea fishing I've got into abit more since I started I love going sea fishing when I go on holidays I carmt seem to cast very well when it comes to 12ft rods could it be something I'm doing wrong or would it be better to go for a kinda lighter rod as there were my dads and kinda feel abit heavy and stiff and there a few years old I know fishing rods have xhanfe alot I've been using a 10ft shakespeare omni mackerel I find it east to use but I'm after something better quality and something that will help me cast futher

Loving your videos John! Im moving to Falmouth area in the summer, We only have one life and I will be very happy spending a lot of my time fishing cornwall! Ive fished rivers and pools in the midlands for 30 yrs and so excited to have the change of sea fishing. hopefully I can get enough masonry work and also meet a misses who is into fishing, then ill be living the dream haha. Nice one, i've learnt a lot, cheers!

As you are putting most of the fish you catch back, have you considered not using a two hook rig where there's more possibility of deeply gorged hook that you might have difficulty disgorging the lower hook like you had with the ray, possibly badly damaging the fish getting it out or leaving the hook behind? I was glad that you got got the lower hook out. That said I love your enthusiasm and your love of the fish.

Great video, I realise this is an old video now and your definitely far more experienced than I am but a little tip for your shallow float setup, when I fish shallow like this with a float I take an old set of feathers and cut them down so there is only 3 of the hooks left, and I just slightly weight the bottom of the trace with a big split shot, has worked a real treat!

If you bait elastic some cotton wool onto your hook and dip it in fish oil if possible, you can also use a small strip of mackerel it works really well for garfish. Gars have narrow beaks and many rasping teeth. They get their teeth tangled in the cotton wool and it really helps with hook ups.

courtesy is a rare commodity these days. surfers are the worst. 5 mile of beach and they choose to turn up and mess about (paddlers. no proper waves) right in front of ya. I carry on casting a 4/5oz lead straight out and pretend I haven't seen them. just like they pretend they haven't seen me.

Your daughter does have your nose, and it looks like your chin too. Have you ever put a bell on your rod then you don't have to look at it every once in a while! So a question those rays don't have stingers on them, that can hurt you? Very informative video!

Did you ever fish the west coast when you were up north? I'm restricted to Morecambe bay at the moment with lockdown, hard work. You wife and daughter are two peas in a pod by the way, can't tell them apart
