The first time ever in the UK someone has caught and landed 2 300lb+ Bluefin Tuna single handed on their own 16ft boat and caught it on camera! This was intended to be a video targeting Porbeagle sharks but these were a very welcome by catch. Leadered, unhooked, revived and released boat side. What an amazing day and incredible creatures. As if the stunning scenery and gin clear waters of Cornwall weren't enough, we now have Bluefin Tuna! I have been asked to provide links to the tackle I used

John, you are for us viewers like the -special forces- of small boat fishing. I think you should submit yourself to the celebrity SAS show of that name (just a few months pending the streets and getting rid of that civvies belly. I have a striking feeling you will ace it, and i speak as former DS on various selection courses. Are you ex forces? You-re attention to detail seems to suggest you are.

Goodness, I dont know who was more tired, the fishes or your audience willing you on. Thoroughly enjoyable, and so great you revived these wee beasties and then let them go. Probably the Dolphin pod appeared to give you a round of applause, after the first one! You certainly earned it, for the two, controlling the boat and camera as well and keeping up a 1st class commentary, fantastic. Thanks

Third time I-ve watched this video, just an incredible fish, they look so prehistoric and my daughters said they look plastic, bless them.
(Didn-t realise it-s illegal to catch these fish in UK waters, only by accident and once caught must go back immediately, which you did after you let it recover, respect. -

That's an awesome tally for a day's fishing, John! How nice to see someone returning those beautiful fish, there's plenty of people who wouldn't have. If I caught anything half the size of them I would have had to cut the line as my back wouldn't take it! Great video mate and a brace of fish of a lifetime!

just got done you in keys. now I'm sitting here watching this one thinking. i would love to watch you fishing on some big Florida pier with the regulars treating you like its your first time fishing. that would be a show we would all like to watch. and with your wife.

Releasing this was most likely a death sentence for the fish if you planned to release it you should have done it before you fought it to death and built up all the Latin acid in it's muscles it cannot evade predators that easily recognize weak prey so sad

(Not so Old) Man and the Sea!
What an awesome session and consummately handled.
To think we had a big 'tunny' fishery in the North Sea out of Hull and Grimsby until their greed fished the stocks out by the start of the last war. :-(

Hi John. Only the Lord knows how many times I have watched this awesome video. Only out of curiosity is it legal to land blue fin tuna in the UK? Honestly I'd rather see them returned to make more fantastic tuna. Regards Tony --

Hi John that was a great watch, you know when you said when there are Tuna around you-ll most likely to see dolphin too, can I ask do dolphin take the lure as both fish are feeding on the same prey.
Cheers mate.
