Sea fishing in the UK in February is very weather dependant. You need to dodge the storms and take any weather window you can. Here I had a wonderful start to the day playing with a local family pod of dolphins and the some fantastic deep sea fishing on a local wreck. There are some monsters down there! I have included links to some of the tackle that I used in this video below

The boat fishing's my favourite type. That kind of start to the day you had, playing amongst dolphins literally lifts my energy for days after. Those kind of encounters are priceless. Have been lucky enough to encounter humpbacks whilst fishing, hearing the sound of the blow makes every cell of my body become alert, get goosebumps from head to toe. It's an incredible privelege.
One time we were fishing in companionable silence, 2 of us, really calm conditions, sunny day, (very rare itself in the North sea of Scotland) just the sound of the birds, already in my happy place thinking life couldn't get better. Then suddenly about 30ft from the boat dwarfing us in length & height as it came by was this enormous black back breaking through the water, followed by the telltale humped dorsal fin before disappearing below the surface, stunning us into awed silence followed by delighted expletative squeals!
It was like a handpicked gift experience from David Attenborough haha! This was after 5 years of being bed bound, craving fresh air and getting back to nature! Amazing!
Congrats on that cracking olick John, lovely gut on it -

When did running up the anchor and holding it up with the buoy begin in your area? I invented a similar rig in 1976 and used it in Montauk NY where it became standard operating procedure. People had been running up the anchor prior. My contribution was the float to keep the anchor and chain on the surface.
If you have room for a plastic trash container, maybe 25 gallons, you can simply let the anchor line fall into the container when you retrieve it. It will pay out neatly the next time you anchor,

Love it John! I'm glad I saved this one to watch, this is so much better than the bilge on TV, I got excited by the wounded Pouting & called out porbeagle before you said it, that amused my wife! Stunning ling too, I envy what you must have stocked in your freezer, I would be eating fish every day! Lumpy sea looked a tad uncomfortable but I would switch watching this sitting on the sofa with actually being there & doing it any day of the week! Well done mate, all the best.

Love the videos, thank you very much.
Pout are fantastic eating when cooked right. They must be frozen or a minimum of 24 hours in the fridge. I had chucked them back for years, decades, or given them for pot bait, then Shelley, my at the time new partner (8 years and going strong, who is a chef, cooked them for me. Never chucked em back again. Breaded fillet or fishcakes. Always have some in the freezer now.

Hi John, is it possible to ask your dearest wife to perhaps bake or whatever a nice piece of ling and let's see why nobody seems to eat it. We all might be missing something as we were with Pollack for years.
Regards to you and family Gerald Swain.

Morning mate. Spent it catching up on your vids this is such a good watch. Have you ever thought about sending a camera down to see what it looks like at the bottom of the wrecks? Be good footage and interesting to see
