Hi my fellow fisherman, i wanna say something from my experience. I live in croatia and i live around terrain where there are lot of cuttlefish and octopus. We are catching octopus in the fall and cuttlefish in the winter. But, i can swear with my life, i never, ever had a octopus strike on a egi lure. How are you catching octopus on a egi is a mistery to me. As a matter of fact, just called my old dad, asked him if he ever got a octopus on a egi, and he said, maybe twice a year and its usually a very small octopus 20dkg max. He goes every fishable day in the season since the fall. Our lure for octopus is a crab on the ski and a tail of a small conger tied to it. Also, i watched your latest video on congers and we also catch congers. But we are catching it on a small rope with few meters of fat mono as a leader, and we are doing it at night. So yea, little bit different techniques, i guess we are still conservative about new fishing systems with rods. Basically everything that we are catching is done by hand. When i see all these rods, braids, fluoros, reels, plastic lures, jigs, i just get confused haha. I even troll by gloved hand haha. Theres nothing better than feeling the bluefish or tunny biting the lure on your hand. We dont have super massive fish that could rip off our hands with the mono, so we are not afraid. But, there were times of amberjacks doing some hand damage, since they are agressive and fast biters. Best wishes and greetings to you and your family my friend.

In another world. While living in Japan back in 89-90 we went to a local restaurant that featured Squid and Cuttlefish. They brought in a Cuttlefish for each person. They were fastened down on a wooden platter with a couple of small nails and the body? mantle was sliced crosswise in 4-5 mil strips. Freshest sashimi possible and absolutely delicious. Then one of the group happened to touch the tentacles on their Cuttlefish. The animal grabbed the chop stick and everybody gasped. It was alive with most of it's body gone. When one finished the sashimi portion they came and took away the remainder and brought it back cooked as directed. Tempura or yakitori style. A very different world.

Happy birthday Hannah hope you had a good meal. Nice catch of cuttlefish. I am down your way in 3 weeks looking for couple good beach marks with easy access as I can't do all that rock hopping anymore. Would like to get some squid if possible could you please point me in right direction staying at Hayle don't mind travelling 20_30. miles each way. Keep the videos coming.

Octopus stew, garlic, shallot, reduced red wine, in it's own ink, an unforgettable musky savory flavour, that will haunt you till you cook it again and again. I had this in a the Bar Carman-Chu in the old part of Fuenterrabia in 1967 with 1 Peseta shot glasses of red wine. Oh my God to be 17 again and visit old Northern Spain the food is so so good.

-Twice this size- Maybe that species of Cuttlefish. Snorkeling off Guam once I got bumped on the surface by what I thought was the remains of a styrofoam Boogy board. On shore I realized that it was the cuttlebone of a very large Cuttlefish. That cuttlebone, identical to what is sold in pet shops for caged birds to nibble on, was easily 30 inches long.

Firstly happy birthday to Hannah, I hope that you took her somewhere nice. Glad to see that you managed to catch a dogfish, a fish locker video wouldn't be the same without getting at least one. Octopus and cuttlefish make really good eating, as well as bait. Can you get Jim to cook some for us.

Cool vid, I read that a few non EU countries increased their mackerel quotas by 50% above what the EU scientists set out as a sustainable quota for mackerel, if true then it's possibly over fishing that has lowered their numbers, this year was worse than last year for mackerel, shame.
