Great to see you again John. What a lovely Ling, there are going to be some great fillets off of that bad boy. Would you mind telling me the best way to dispatch a Ling, thanks. I take it you save bits for bait, popped into the freezer! Loved the wrasse and the species fish! A near perfect day spoilt by a doggie haha. Take care mate, loved the video even if it was a bit rough! All the best Graham---

Don't understand why you only keep bass on special occasions, John.
Personally fishing the south coast coming from London and was lucky to have caught both Mackerel and also mysteriously a big Bass this year of Sabikis in October, Brighton Marina. Finding fish eating all in the preparation. Smoked Mackerel the fish likened to eat best.
We have the same Whitby sharp knife!

Personally fishing the south coast coming from London and was lucky to have caught both Mackerel and also mysteriously a big Bass this year of Sabikis in October, Brighton Marina. Finding fish eating all in the preparation. Smoked Mackerel the fish likened to eat best.

You were definitely right to come inshore, that swell was building up and the white horses were starting to appear. Your magic touch with the weather definitely failed you that day! It was worth hanging around to catch that dogfish though! Another great one, it just shows what an expert can overcome. Hopefully Jim will do that cooking video.

Another great video John - sure was a bit of a swell running! Awesome sized Mackerel - one of them would make a good meal, and a handsome Ling, plenty of good food on that one! Look forward to the fillet/catch & cook if Jim is up for it! You & yours stay safe and well! --

Would be good to see a few red bream over the wrecks, my dad used to target them on wrecking trips out of the fal.
They disappeared so I have never caught one, they are a good fighting stunning looking fish, catching one would be a real treat, a special moment.

Superb ling! Do you think with more tuna coming into our warmer waters they are partially to blame for our declining mackerel numbers.

Hi John! Loved the video as always - how do you find the panoptix in deeper water? I-ve been dying to add it to my gps maps but have struggled to find any info or videos on its effectiveness in anything deeper than about 30ft - cheers! -

You had a great day's fishing John, that was a awesome ling you landed plus I say the mackerel were the biggest of the season and the bream, and to finish it off with a dog fish was icing on the cake -- stay safe --
