Incredible huge catfish 8, 5 feet - 250 lbs - hd by yuri grisendi Will: As a Floridian saltwater fisherman, catching large catfish just isn't that impressive. It's like, let's throw out a clump of meat (it doesn't really matter what kind of meat, and let it just sit on the bottom, then when it moves a little bit, let it help you, slowly but surely work's it's way up off the bottom. Then lead it to shore while it flops around a bit on the surface. It's makes no long runs and has no speed! I do realize that, that's probably the best you have in your area, but for me that would get old quick! Take your same rod and reel and hook up to a 150lb. Tarpon and if you can keep it from getting stripped, and get the fish close enough to touch, now that would be impressive! My point isn't to criticize, but to tell you it's time to look for a better challenge. Even snook fishing or fishing for Redfish poses a far better fight. If you ever get down/over this way, holler at me and I'll at least tell you the right technique for what type of fish you wanna catch. In the meantime go catch some large or smallmouth bass. Even they are far more challenging.

Back in the day, we were boating on the Ohio River and stopped for a break in a small town down river from Cincinnati and were talking to some old timers on the porch of a small General Store. They were reflecting back on their fishing experiences and told us they regularly caught Large Catfish over two hundred pounds, two were over 300 pounds! True story?

All these people talking about letting it live. a catfish that size is not good for eating, and probably has unsafe levels of toxins as well. You would not filet one that size. I dont know what it would taste like, but its common knowledge among anglers that they dont taste very good once they get that big. For food, you want them to be roughly 5-15 lbs.

Where was this brute caught? While stationed in Texas in the early 70s, it was common for people to catch fish this size. I caught a good sized largemouth bass one Saturday, I was cleaning it and my neighbor came over and ask me to help him clean his fish, it was hanging in a tree and weighed over 115 lbs. crap!

That catfish looks like it's pulling the boat around the lake! It's obviously a lot of physical work to actually land that fish! When I could finally see it at the surface I was amazed! How old could it be? It is truly astounding!

It-s pretty amazing that fishing poles can withstand that kind of abuse! I remember as a kid being worried that my pole could snap, and we were just fishing for bass. (Sidenote: this made me miss fishing with my dad)

What a catch---You are officially the man--Your partner had to work hard too--The biggest Catfish I have ever seen. Nobody would have believed you, if you didn't film it.

Can you begin to imagine how we much it takes to fill that catfish? It'd have to either a whole school of small fish or another fish about half the size of him! Lol

This thing could definitely swallow a small child and they will gulp in anything that fits their mouth or even drown a man by swallowing a foot.

That's one big guppy! Year's ago I caught my personal best of 38lbs at Santee Cooper in South Carolina. This catfish could eat someone.
