Thank you to everyone at The New Fly Fisher for this, Nova Scotia is such a hidden gem and there is finally something out there that shows it. I moved to British Columbia at the beginning of the summer and missed this years atlantic salmon season and seeing this almost made me cry. Thank you again. The best thing is the Margaree is Nova Scotia big conservation success story. In the 1980's the Margaree had a major drought, which lead to there being so little water in the Margaree that no salmon could get up the rivers to spawn and were stuck out to sea. This left them vulnerable to the Greenland commercial fishery, which they almost wiped out the entire population. Thanks the a hatchery being constructed and atlantic salmon from the St. Mary's River being supplemented to the population and to boost it's health. This lead to what we have today, a health river. On a side note this introduction of St. Mary's salmon to the Margaree river population has caused there to be a summer and fall run, while the surrounding rivers only have fall runs. The St. Mary's gets its largest runs of salmon staring in June.

As well thank you for the slight likely unknowing node to the St. Marys River in Ray's fly box, it was the Orange Blossom MacInthosh ( 19: 57 the big orange dry fly in the upper right corner. That pattern originates on the St. Mary's, where back in the 1930's it was one of the dry flies used for salmon in Nova Scotia and maybe the world. The oringal pattern was a black body, red squirrel wing and brown hackle on a #4 to 2/0 hook. Thank you again for this it made me fell at home for a little bit.
