Giant Brook Trout of Igloo Lake - The New Fly Fisher

Here is a classic video from our archives with Bill Spicer catching massive Brook Trout on dry flies and bomber patterns at Igloo Lake Lodge in Labrador. This remote location has access to excellent eastern brook trout, northern pike and other species! Bill discusses equipment, fly pattern choices for Labrador and presentation techniques. Before anyone posts, this episode was recorded many years ago when C&R experts insisted everyone use gloves to tail and hold trout and other species. This show was recorded with the previous owners of the lodge and the fishing is still EXCELLENT! Give the new owner, Craig Gillingham, a call at 709-424-4324 or visit their website

Looks like your wearing cloth gloves, holding tail, before you release it. That glove can remove their protective slime compromising their skin to get infections.

Igloo Lake Lodge was by far my favorite place to guide. What other species besides Eastern Brook trout and Northern Pike?

A long way from the European nymphing I do in small streams here in the U. K! Those fish are titans. Great stuff.
