Just depends on what you want to spend and how much you want to bring with. I caught a fat, 28-inch pike last winter in MN on a typical noodle panfish rod. 6 lb. test and a 16th oz jig. Took about 12 minutes to bring it in but it worked perfectly.

I ordered the -Precision- being as I love fishing for walleye but in my area it's more panfish lakes and this rod will do both very nicely! Can't wait for this winter to get on the ice!
