Here it is, Thrive Visuals entry into the 2020 Fly Fishing Film Tour, Common Thread. So thankful for everyone who made this project a reality! For the past few years Mike Lembke (owner of Wollaston Lake Lodge) and myself had shared a dream of entering a film in the Fly Fishing Film Tour (F3T) - While the lodge has some of the most incredible fishing around, we knew it needed more than a big fish to create a film that would be accepted into the tour. This is where Mary and her family came along. Through my 7 years guiding/filming at Wollaston I had created a special bond with a family that frequented Wollaston. Fly fishing has been a common thread that has bonded their family together over the yearsand THAT was the story I wanted to tell. Fast forward to now, Thrive Visuals had the opportunity to produce our entry this summer and IT GOT ACCEPTED! Huge shoutout to everyone involvedthe crew at Wollaston, The entire Austin/Pettigrew Family, and production crew Nik Enns (color/edit, Zack Saladino (videographer, Joel Ruby (videographer), and our partners Orvis, Costa Del Mar Sunglasses, and Sask Tourism. This film turned out wonderful Jay! I always think back to Mary and Barry coming to the lodge when I worked there and they were hands down some of my favourite guests. Such kind and genuine people. This film tells the story of who they are and I am sure they are very proud of the end result

I had no doubt this film/documentary will win. Great job Jay. This bring tears to my eyes every time I watch. Hope you get your kids out for fishing as young as possible. I have a 19 yo who just is not like me. My 13 yo daughter may be, we'll see. Congrats Jay.

Wow, you made a masterpiece, what an amazing family and story! This is what gives fly fishing the reputation it deserves, bringing people together, stunning work! Those shots of the pike mouths coming out of the water to eat the fly are unreal! Well done

Great movie! The storyline is intriguing and one that I wish more often portrayed with families. The slow motion tail splash on the release was amazing. I am a big fan of your videos. Congratulations on a well deserved Movie of the Year award for this one.

What a fabulous story. And what an amazing family who are knit together through fly fishing. I was jumping for joy at the young girl catching her fist northern on a fly. Mary's laughter is infectious and she doesn't need liquor for it.

I cried close to the end both when she spoke of her deceased husband and when I saw the granddaughter catch her first fish on the fly. So wonderful. Plus I laughed along with the banter of Mary and Barry. Thank you for sharing.

I came back to watch this for a second time Jay. Your talents really shine so bright in this production. I've learned a lot from your periodic teaching about filming and through studying your edits. This video is just amazing!

I love seeing you and Sam in front of the camera but please never stop creating amazing art like this video. The story is fantastic and the shots that you got are out of this world. Thanks for sharing this with everyone.

Amazing video. I've been to Wollaston lake years ago. I caught a 46 and a 44 incher at the bay of pigs. And caught some walleye and artic grayling. What beautiful spot.
