Could this be the best budget option in ice fishing electronics? In this video Sam and I review the Garmin Strike Plus 4. For under $200 CDN it seems to be pretty impressive, but how does it perform on the ice? From building a portable kit to catching some fish with it, we put it through the paces. Robert: I use the traditional with the split screen. Just got back today from the U. P. and had no problems with the battery and it was in the single digits up there. Caught some small perch and had a hoot with my long time friend. Hope that helps you a little.

Wife and I got 2 of these in the ice bundle. Actually, she got the upgraded one and I got the older one. I just wanted something to know if I'm even on fish. this thing is cool. I use that A Scope setting, but the flasher is cool too. I like the ice transducer on the plus unit, so I'll upgrade that on my unit and used the other ducer on a small aluminum boat or yak. for about 200 bucks for the ice bundle you can't beat it. I'm gonna toss it in the boat in the spring to see how it works jigging those early spring walleye.

Awesome video, I wish I had seen it before I shelled out $240 for the Striker portable bundle and another $120 for the ice fishing transducer like a dummy! Loved the DIY kit portion too, so helpful. I also really appreciated the tip on Dakota Batteries, weight and battery life matters for a lot of my fishing missions, so Ill be checking this out. Thanks so much.

Thanks for teaching me the word janky. I also appreciate the boat transducer use. I just about melted down when I realized the package I bought didn't come with an ice transducer (days before going out on the ice. You gave me hope.

I started out ice fishing by mounting a $100 hummingbird unit to a small lunchbox. I kind of miss fishing with that old thing in traditional mode. Perhaps I'll build a new one someday and leave the flasher home for a change.

I love my striker 4, I have the lead acid battery that came with the bundle, I also upgraded to the ice ducer, highly recommend getting that, and on the lead acid battery, I get 4 full trips off a single charge,

I have a Garmin Striker Vivid4 on my Jon boat and its absolutely amazing. Im going to get the ice fishing kit for it and I will try your awesome battery setup. Thanks!

Appreciate the demonstration, I probably will set one up exactly as you did here, I will compare the bag setup but I like things practical like what you've done here.

i did this years ago, made my own lithium battery and i am just dipping the transducer in the hole hanged by the wire, no need for a float or anything.

Doesnt seem to highlight targets until they rise off of the bottom. Would that be a fair observation? And does that minimize its value as a search tool?
