Well folks here it is. this is my story on why I dropped out of college. I Texan1048: I get that you want to have fun, and that you have good things going on right now, but it doesn't take much for life to throw you a curveball. What if all of this went away tomorrow? Would you have a back-up plan to recover? That's what I look at college degree being for. Took me years to figure that out. After struggling with full-time jobs that payed me and had little future, I decided to go back to college when I was 26. I am now 28 and have an AAS in process technology, and I could go back anytime to do a full 4 year engineering degree. Soon I will be getting a stable job that pays 30/hr+ that will allow me benefits, retirement, not to mention paid vacations. All that will give me options later to enjoy life and have fun: larger picture, you know? Tbh, I had a lot more time in college to do the things I wanted to do compared to working full-time jobs or several part-time jobs. It's about prioritizing your time effectively and making time to do the things you want. You don't always have to take full-credit hours at college, just do what you can reasonably do that allows time to do other fun things that you want to do. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Yes, I quoted the Shining, but that is so true in life in so many ways. It's only been a year since you quit so whatever credit you earned is likely still valid, and you could go back anytime to finish. You seem like a smart guy, so I have no doubt you could do it, you just have to find a reason to do so. I hope you don't get married and have kids anytime soon lol. Cause that tends to be a major kick in the butt money wise. Not that I am knocking you or anything, I am glad you are doing well with what you're doing, I'm just saying. a back-up plan for when SHTF is not a bad idea.

I respect your decisions, its yours and yours only to make. However speaking as one a little older then you, what do you have to fall back on? Do you still plan on making YouTube videos when your 40? What happens when that next kid comes along and makes better videos and your sponsors decide to work with them instead of you? What if Favorite Rods goes under? We got our display last fall in our store and the rack is still as full as it was when got it to the point we are considering removing it and putting the rods in the clearance section to make room for other rods that are selling. I wont say what store i work for but it was once two of the biggest outdoor stores and now we are one. I hope it all works out for you, but even if college is not for you now have a back up plan and exit strategy even if it means finishing college later in life nothing wrong with that. I want you to be successful but don't want to see you down the road be in a position where you lose everything and have an AP melt down. Good luck man

I'm a college graduate. Graduated Paul Smith's College in 2015 with a degree in wildlife management. Absolutely no regrets, this past year I got paid to patrol campgrounds and shoot paint balls and black bears (trying to adverse condition them so that they learn to fear people and avoid campgrounds as a food source) Next week I'm moving to Florida to survey beaches for sea turtles and shore birds As awesome as this summer was I would still say college was the best 4 years of my life, not for everybody but I'm sure glad I went and stuck with it, yeah I've got tens of thousands of dollars in loans to pay back but with hard work and perseverance I know I will pay them off just like it took hard work academically to graduate and get to where I am now.

I quit college, studying Philosophy and history in 1970 when the draft lottery left my number outside of eligibility to die in Viet Nam. I returned 2 years later, studying forestry, and quit that after 3/4 of the year. 3 years later I returned, studying business management for 3 years and quit to run my dad's business. Finally, I returned to MSU in 1983 and that time I completed my batchelor degree in Engineering, Computer Science. You're a smart kid. Don't worry about fitting a particular social mold. Use education to your advantage, not others. I tell you this, I guess, to ease your mind with that decision. Learning doesn't only happen at school.

+FLAIR I think you should do a video where you explain more about all these businesses you currently are attached to. Like, I know you are doing things with the Googans, so explaining what the concept behind that is, and how it correlates to the businesses attached to that group (MTB, for instance) Favorite would be a great one to delve into as well, and your DUX stuff too. Generally give your viewers an idea of what your attached to, and why. I just think that would be a good idea, as I would love to know what businesses you, as well as the other Googans, are invested in, and what part you play in those ventures.

Im in community college right now, taking wildlife and outdoors classes. Im also playing baseball on top of 20 credit hours a semester. Anytime I get free time, Im going fishing. And when I run out of day light, im watching googan squad videos, brandon, jake and tons more fishing content. Sometimes I even try to record myself fishing. One of these days, Im going to make some fishing content and thrive on it. Ill probably end up finishing college because I dont have anything to fall back on but man, sometimes its tempting. Keep up the great videos man I look up to you guys

Awesome video Flair Thanks for sharing your life's story, your opinions and encouraging words. To me, success has always been about having more freedom of time. I don't make a ton of money, but I live well and fish a lot because I worked hard on having freedom of time. It's the passive income you're building, much better than getting a paycheck for working a certain amount of hours. I'm investing a lot of time and money in creating fishing videos now, but I know the end result, residual income for many years to come.

I feel like your message could have been said with a little more sensitivity. This is a very controversial topic and your demographic is typically young adults in high school. I'm just saying, I wouldnt have recommended anyone dropping out of college even if they have a good thing going for them. This is coming from someone who spent 5 years of their life in college and feels like it was a somewhat complete waste of time. Too much to explain and type. Just thought your message could have been handled more eloquently.

38 years old, 6 figure job, and hiring people is part of my job. Let me just say this. in current times, the college degree is now overrated. The value of a 4 year degree is watered down now b/c so many people have them. Here's what people DON'T have. technical skills. Trades. Vocations. There's a shortage. Also the advent of social media and technology means a lot of creative young people are getting rich without degrees. Follow your heart.

I just graduated and I believe that college has definitely changed who I am as a person for the better Without college I would have not made the friends I have met or the networking connections I have made. It ultimately has shaped my future of where I will work at and who I will spend my life with. This is also with many life decisions though. Go where you believe you are meant to be and life will take you the best route
