Alpaca are great animals - friends of ours raise 38 of them on their hobby farm on Vancouver Island, BC. You need to learn about them, but they are not hard to have once you figure them out. Before buying either a donkey or an alpaca I would show the owner your fenced in area and see what they say about whether the yard is big enough for them. Heather

If u get a dog I would recommend a blood hound or a beauceron because they are really big dogs and have a really loud bark they will most likely be able to scare off a coyote or anything that will try to eat the goats but u will have to by one that like 1 or 2 years old and that is trained to protect animals

Line the outside of the fence with brick so the coyotes can't d i g under it's a cheap way to defend them but they can probably still jump over the fence if it has a low spot

Flair I have goats and I read that they love pine trees or Christmas trees so you could just give it to them and they love to eat bark off of wood to bc mine do that all the time
