To catch the bigger ones use small whitebait small pinfish something the little ones aren't going to be able to peck or gulp mangroves love small baitfish and it weeds out the tiny ones

Btw that not a lane snapper that a mutton snapper and that one was too small to keep lane snapper have yellow line and they don t have blue

Not sure what hooks you're using, but typically you don't want to set that hook so hard. Use a circle hook let them eat and just reel in.
