Elk hunting public lands in Colorado, I'm climbing to the highest altitude I've ever been. Bow hunting these mountains can be tough but I've seen lots of animals along the way including a big mule deer buck you can see in this video. SHOUT OUT TO BOWTECH FOR SETTING ME UP THE REALM SS FOR THIS TRIP

Like in the song, The Gambler, you've got to know when to push forward with your stock and when to sit still and have patience. This takes experience, age, and confidence. If you blow out an entire herd, that days hunt on that mountain is done! Your too high and its affecting your reasoning ability. You need to drop down a bit in elevation and find a high spot in an area where you know there's elk and then stand hunt. There's too much trash on the ground so you will never stock close enough for a shot. DYI solo hunter to solo hunter, one of the problems of solo hunting is its hard to catch the negative effects of weather and altitude on yourself when they sneak up on you! A rifle hunter, when i'm in a hot area, I set up a stand hunt where I can cover a lot of ground with my rifle and then I'll sit all day long on a stand.

Hey Justin, with the mouth call, try saying Key, like with yelping call for turkeys, saying the word Key like Keyyyyy, the longer you hold that sound makes that high pitch tone, then go into Keyyyyyy-uhh, and then maybe experiment with back of the tongue pressure on the call to get that fluctuation tones of real elk bugling, Now to be honest, i've never actually used this call for elk hunting/calling, but imagining it in my head as to what it would sound like makes sense, i've been turkey hunting my entire life since i was like 10 or younger, and know my way around mouth calls. Just a couple of tips

Word to the wise Justin, those mtn house meal's are tasty but their really high in sodium and can cause headaches due to all the ridiculous amount of salt your consuming. Even if you sweat profusely you wouldn't need that much salt to maintain hydration, I haven't tried them yet but I hear omeals company makes some of the best freeze dried & dehydrated meals in the business and their way lower in salt, hope this helps

Great series and yes the Rockies are incredible. On the health side, I'm sure you have great doctors and likely have done tons of research on your tumor and the best treatments. Have you explored Proton Accelerator therapy? It's works for several types of cancer and tumor masses are one of the top ones.

treading a thin line with that drone footage, you may want to check the laws on use of drones in relation to hunting for any state you play in. I know colorado it is illegal to use a drone in conection with hunting and the same laws apply to aircraft, it is illegal hunt in the same day you fly.

I'm really enjoying this series a lot, but I just have a feeling the elk are stalking you just out of bow range. I'm really hoping you get one. I bet the elk are saying though:
Elk: Look at this here pilgrim, noisily stumbling all over our mountain. What an ugly alien he is. LOL.

Don't try to walk all day like Rob that's not the way to get them Rob has been lucky to have kill the ones he has but his calling has got really good but you had the right idea set on the wallows this time of year they come to them multiple times a day because of the nats and bugs.

Bro tbh I'm not a hunter or a fisherman but I still watch your videos along with lunker. Even if you don't get an elk, its still an experience of a lifetime. Never been elk hunting and probably never will but man I bet it's a crazy cool experience.

One thing I've noticed since I moved to Colorado a few months ago is if you want to see animals you need to just sit somewhere and be quiet. The animal you want to see will just walk up to you. I had a raccoon try taking a 6 pack from me like a week ago.

Just put a trail cam and a bushel of apples in the woods behind my old house, first time I put a camera there. Nobody has lived there for like 10 years, so the place has pretty much been taken over by the deer, moose, and bears. Let's see what happens
