My wife Stephanie is learning how to fly fish for the fish time and caught her first rainbow trout on by herself using a fly rod. We went fishing for bigger tout in some ponds and streams but were cut short with out fly rod

LFG I used to go camping all the time when I was younger like I seriously would go 4 or 5 days out of 7 days! I absolutely loved camp cooking! I loved to make breakfast pizza, cobbler, biscuits & sausage gravy, & lots lots more delicious camp foods! I think everyone loved my breakfast pizza the best from all the feed back from everyone! But its been so long since Ive even been out camping let alone do any camp cooking! I guess Ive just been so busy & havent made time to go camping! Im definitely going to have to make time to get out & go camping again!

You need to teach your wife how to roll cast and you need to slow it down with the motions of your rod. when you can hear the line singing past you, you could potentially snap your fly off comes with experience orvis has a great selection of videos on YouTube you can watch! On how to cast and read water as well

You know how you guys were talking about the trees changing every day in colorado? Well i have only been there once to put a metal roof on a cabin in South Fork. in the week i was there i watched the trees go from bright green to yellow to orange and then red. in a week. so i believe it 100%

I just picked up a fly-rod after years of using an ultra-light spinning rod for everything, and I have gone through some of the same problems, but don't give up only practice will turn you into a good fly-fisherman.
Keep up the good work, and go West Virginia!

Also at the end of your video you can hear stoneflys flying around after the rod broke. they are an awesome selection to add to your fly box and even awesomer to watch a fish slurp it off the top of the water!

One thing we do in Idaho is look up the stocking records for alpine lakes. Keeps you from fishing unproductive (virtually fishless) lakes. But I'm always excited to see people excited about fly fishing: )

She shouldnt feel bad about that little fish: the simple fact that she caught anything on her first time is amazing. I tried for about a month until I finally caught my first one

fantastic video, great to see her getting her first ever trout, all be it a tiny fish at that but still its counts as one on the board

You should have gone back to where you first camped while you were hunting elk to catch those cutthroats you thought were Brook trout.
