A wild lynx is stalking our camp site and end up hunting some small mammals right in front of us! We go down river to find a new camp and go fly fishing for brown trout and other Colorado trout species. #outdoors #camping #wild #lynx

GREAT camera work! The Lynx was awesome. The start of the vid said you are in the southern Rockies. Are you in the San Juans? We go there every year and really enjoy it.
I grew up in Denver (I'm 63) and I caught my first trout on a fly with a rig similar to what you used. When I was a kid you could by a clear, hollow float that you could put water in, for weight, you ran your string through it and plugged it with however much of a leader you wanted. I haven't seen those in years.
I use a red Rooster Tail on ultralight gear with 2-pound test. It's a blast!

There are only 150-200 estimated lynx living in the colorado mountains. Ya'll were so lucky to get so close to one. This camping trip was meant to be, I'm glad you and OSG got to experience such a rare event. I think the department of wildlife collars all the lynx they released so you guys must've saw a second generation lynx that is THRIVING. That was a healthy looking cat!

Little tip for dry flies on bobbers I've picked up. I put my bobber about 2-3 feet up from my fly when fishing with a conventional rod. I think it makes the presentation of the fly a little more natural and I usually get a few more bites that way. In fast water it may not matter as much but for slower water I think it for sure helps. Keep it up LFG, love the videos.

The whole series has been wonderful for me as in my younger days I would get to travel to New Mexico, Colorado and Wyoming for fishing and skiing in the winter. Just watching your journey brought back the winds, sounds of moving water and just beauty everywhere you looked. Thanks for sharing and take care.

Next time you throw a spinner In a Colorado River, you should throw downstream and slowly reel up and keep the rod tip as low as possible. Your just letting those fish pull the bait right out of there mouth instead of naturally letting those fish hook themselves when the spinner is headed upstream

Youre absolutely right, it looks like a bob cat (lynx rufus) however its the Canada lynx (lynx canadensis! Beautiful animals found in the family felidae. These two species are located all across North America into Canada and even into Mexico! Gotta love their beautiful appearances!

If you like to fish for trout, November 1st is opening day in Medicine Park, Oklahoma. Is a nice town and really nice fishing. I've been fishing there for 3 seasons, about to be 4. If you actually read and respond, I'd cherish the chance to meet and fish with ya'll.

When setting the hook on a fly and bubble, you need a long steady pull. Trout have weak mouths so the set is not a jerking motion but can't just real the hook into this mouths. I hope this makes sense. Keep up the good work.

Can always tie a fly on with a bobber above it and float it like that. Ive had to before and have got great results not as fun as a fly rod but as long as youre catching fish right?

OMG that Lynx was GORGEOUS! I'm so jealous. I was fascinated with Lynx as a kid but I've never seen one. You can tell it's a Lynx by the paintbrush ear tips BTW.
