IF you want to catch BIG Blues & Flat Head Catfish you need to use much BIGGER Baits. Not the small magnum minnow size Shad cut in half like you used in this video. I'm talking catch 1 to 4 pound Gizzard Shad in a Casting Net and cut BIG chunks from them or BIG Live Perch the size of your hand on 10/0 to 12/0 Circle hooks. There are way more small fish, so unless you use LARGER baits to BIG for them to inhale you'll mainly catch smaller fish most of the time. Want BIG CATFISH use BIG BAITS. Search for Steve Douglas aka The Catfish Dude or Catfish Dave and learn from them! ;)

How I catch a big blue catfish I get the biggest bluegill or crappie that I can get. I cut a Stickley fins off. When the pair of scissors and I smash that bluegill with a rock but he still got to be alive, but all the scales coming off him. I got two coming out of the butt. And toss them out there on a big weight. And say your prayers. Not that you're going to catch one. Say your prayers. Have you don't break your line? Cuz I've had 80 lb braid break all the time.

I fish Lake Houston a lot and to catch the big blues I use the same set up you are using but I only have my leader about 4' deep. I try to drift them in about 10' of water. Sometimes it is a pain chasing them all down but I have never come home without half an ice chest full of them. Good luck!

I know you know the area but I live between both fork and Tawakoni, my little brother is a guide on Tawakoni and drifts for blues in the winter. He catches some good 50-60 pounders regularly. Need to get you a 4 drift sock. And get big gizzard shad and cut them and drift them

Man go to Tawakoni. I know you know where that lake is. Jan-feb and set in 4-8ft of water in some timber or off of the willow line in coves. anchor up, throw out some rods with big cut gizzard shad, and just wait for the takedown. Caught a nice 47lber 2 years ago.

Here in Kentucky, when I fish for blues, fish 20 to 30 feet of water. The fish will suspend about 1/2 way. Around 10 to 12 feet. I always fish out in open water. They do school where I fish. Taylorsville lake. Good luck!
