Just got back from Ft. Collins. They've been in a drought and there was a huge forest fire not far from there. real smoky. Fished for about an hour and a half in the Poudre River right in town. extremely low water. Caught two small Rainbows and one decent beautifully marked Brown. Surprised anything bit. Used Joe's FLY/SPINNER BLADE LURES WORKED SLOW AND STEADY. Used the fly with the bottle fly green body as there were a lot of small greenish grasshoppers around.

Im from Colorado and I think the reason for all the dead animals your seeing is from the fires that we have had recently the sky has had ash coming down and when the birds are up there in the mountains they might have died from lack of oxygen possibly

I fished that exact lake during the colder months and the rainbows were everywhere. Caught about 20 between 3 of us. Also caught a 5 lb rainbow on a spoon

When they said crappie was the best fish, that brought tears to my eyes, they need to try some fresh Great Lakes perch or walters
