Hey so I'm new to shark fishing. I have a 5'6 50-100lb rod with a Penn Senator 9/0. It's currently spooled with 400yds of 100lb braid, then 200yds of 80lb mono, with 50yds 100lb leader. However, it hasn't been battle tested yet. What advice do you have about the spool combo. Should I just go to straight 80lb mono. Also I'm looking to catch fish in the 8-10 foot range from the beach. Advice?

Should of made a mention that you shouldnt use blacktips for hammers. Just to shame the guys who do. Unless your one of them. That shit pisses me off. I dont get how anyone whos released any species of big shark from the beach and felt that serene moment could then kill one.

I hear people say sharks are picky eaters. I think they are picky about when and where they eat, not necessarily what they eat. Barracuda is excellent shark bait, and I've been using my filleted red/trout/snook carcasses with good success too.

No vacuum sealer? DIY with a bag and a bucket of water. Place bait in a plastic bag (ziplock, etc) and place bag with bait into a bucket of water. Air will comeout of the bag, seal tight under water and you got a vacuum sealed bait!

Also dont shark fish in a inlet cause the baits smell isnt going to carry out into the open water and get the attention you need lol. learned that last night using catfish.
