I have a Love/Hate relationship with Amberjack, I normally have to catch 2 or 3 before I get a keeper. Obviously my arms are just about shredded by the 3rd one but I love Amberjack and when your on them you gotta keep going or possibly lose your opportunity, and when I finally hook that keeper it's usually almost too big, like I've just snagged a Russian Sub. By the time I get it in the boat I am burnt toast, no more fishing for me for at least a week or better while I go through a bottle of Ibuprofen (I've got really bad shoulders/hand due to work accident.

On that 4th AJ you were holding him straight by his gills at 1st then you switched around and held by gill plate, I guarantee that fish died after release. Please if your gonna release a fish or dont know for a fact if its a keeper or not take care of the fish no matter what species. I havent seen you mis handle fish to much but this one was pretty bad even tho it was just for a couple seconds. sorry to be that guy but I had too comment. No hard feelings still love the vids!

Now, that's the kind of luck I usually have, at least you've got it on camera. In reality though even if it was in season I probably would have released it, like you said these are getting rare, I don't want to contribute to their rareness, and I don't need one that big for a good meal (if everybody would only keep the smaller one's and release the Big Daddies they wouldn't be so rare.

What at a guy that grouper could have grown to 250 -600 lbs but no I'm gonna kill it before it's old enough to reproduce. the ocean creatures aren't yours to take richboy.
