Blue runners are really good to eat.
I have catch them before. And cook.
The estate of Florida is abusing of the fishing sports. To much of limitations and restrictions. Other countries are catching all they want and thanks to florida,
We can't evenl enjoy A good red snapper because you get fine or go to jail.
But the commercial fisherman from all over they go out with nets catch abundant
But florida put on us all this laws.
That we spent so much money to are economy that every one benefits from.
Shame on the state,

I'm a little late to the party here but I ate my firsts Blue Runner in the 60's. I didn't know it wasn't supposed to be good so I thought it was great. Caught em off Jetty's on Florida East Coast. Since then I've always thought of them as a good tasting fish. It's a good thing others only look at them as bait for larger fish. Leaves more for me. Thanks for showing the teeth on the Porgy. Haven't caught one of those. Great video.

That's strange because my grandmothers favorite fish was Porgy followed by something called butter fish (have not seen these in years) and croaker. I have never caught a blue runner but I don't fish the shore enough. Since I get sea sick (not river sick, boats are out. Fascinating video and I think we have similar grandmas. I do believe grandma likes that tartar sauce.

Viktor- Carlos Ruiz is 100% right. I am a sushi/sashimi connoisseur and I recently had blue runner sashimi. It is excellent! I feel dumb for publicizing this, but it has texture of hamachi with better flavor than snapper. You gotta do another catch and cook. Sashimi blue runner. Make sure to bleed and ice down well. Insane!

The only reason some species get the reputation of trash fish is due to the fact that they take more work to clean. The blue runner took twice the time to clean for a small yield. Some guys are lazy. This guy is willing to work for the meat, as it should be.

About time someone showed the truth about what SO MANY fish snobs call garbage fish. Most fish (fresh and salt water) can be prepared and taste good if done right. Problem is. the Fish Snobs are too lazy to learn. or just fixed in their old ways. Well done!

There is no such Trash Fish in Zanzibar, we eat all fish species(not poisonous ones) although some are super delicious than others but we don't classify less delicious as trash. The big thing that matters is how you prepare your fish for meal.

If you bake a fishy fish in the milk you soak it in, with a knob of butter and seasoning, it'll be the most tender non-fishy fish you'll ever have. My wife's mom taught me that. It's like a baked chowder sans vegetables.

Hate it when the cooker asks someone how something tastes without even letting the diner's taste buds kick in. This kid is even worse, as he is being absurdly impatient with his own grandmother.
