A LEGEND Reborn- Daiwa BG REEL Review (BEST Saltwater Spinning Reel)

In this Tackle Tuesday I review the Daiwa BG series of spinning reels, which have become legends in the fishing industry. This series of reels was first introduced in 1981 and lives on to this day 35 years later. The BG series is relatively cheap and affordable and one of the best saltwater spinning reels I have ever used inshore and offshore. With a wide range of sizes, from big game to ultralight, this series offers something for everyone, from surf (Beach) fishing, to offshore fishing and even light tackle inshore fishing. Here is a breakdown REEL Review by alan hawk. Landshark T-Shirts Now Available!

I still fish with my 1976 Daiwa Silver Series 7000C and love it. The BG came after the silver series and the only substantive difference to me between the silver and the early BG is the color. I have been interested in the new Tsunami reels with all the seals but between your review and Tackle Advisers Im leaning toward the BG. By the way I also use a RG 5000 Daiwa that still fishes very well. My best Daiwa is an Emblem X 5500T long-cast reel since I am a surf fisherman. Most of the reels I fish with are vintage being 45 yrs. old or older. Anyway, thanks for this. Fist tackle video Ive seen of yours. Love your enthusiasm!

The BG is the best saltwater reel for the money, the only complaint is that the line roller is poor because it uses a bushing and has bound up on all three of my BGs. I solved this issue by buying an after market line roller bearing available on eBay that fit perfectly and now rolls freely and actually assists during retrieval.

Never take that shit to surf fishing, I bought one not even touch the sand even one time, it s stop working, rinse it with fresh water right away, still same. took it back to store right away, is smooth yes, line capacity great, light weight, I feel like build for fresh water

Used it a few times for inshore fishing. >>>nub. best/te31 This seems like a very good quality built rod. Good strength. Good sensitivity. And just to be safe i put a little lube at the end every section to help prevent it from binding. Just take it slow and easy.

You are not a normal fisherman. You are a very serious fisherman. Look at your house, just like a fishing tackle shop! Very well laid. Are you a professional fisherman as a living? Your videos are great. Hope to fish with you one day in Singapore.

BG was around before 80. I had a BG mini might. 4 lb test. landed a 7 lb Steelhead when I was a kid. I loved that set up. anybody remember those. Diawa and Penn fill my tackle box! Eric Underwood class of 81 Downey High School

Have my BG 4000 mated to an Okuma Ceilo 10 ft medium/light action.
What a combo for perch!
The reel is flawless, and the rod has power the entire length.
I put 12lb mono on it. fantastic!

Compared to a Penn three slammer that's crap, you obviously haven't been around long enough fishing the entire coast of Florida so YOU Don't know shit and still wet behind the ears lol

Im newbie to this hobby, just recently bought BG6500 with braid 50lb. I have a quick question, will it be ok if I put 50LB braid line on the recommended 10 to 15kg line on the rod? Thanks
