EATING The World's BEST Snook BAIT? -MOJARRA (Sand Perch)- Catch, Clean and Cook

In this Catch, Clean and Cook, Brook Crist and I did some light tackle surf fishing on the beach. Our goal was to catch Mojarra (Sand Perch, croakers or Whiting, which are common saltwater bait fish, using shrimp as bait and grill them on the beach, over a fire. We ended up with 2 mojarra and they were some of the best tasting fish we ever ate, even though some people consider them trash fish. We did a simple lemon butter fish recipe and fish fillets were super flaky and tasty. Mojarra's are generally used as bait while snook fishing, but they make a great fish dinner when they get palm sized. The Bait fish taste test was a success!

I've eaten a lot of them spearfishing. They like to hold the bottom in deeper water. Hold directly over them while snorkeling on the surface. Head straight down and they will watch for your approach and be unsure of which way to go until you get in range. Once you are in range, slow down and they will slow down and turn which is the time to strike.

Glassnose are one of the best fish to eat. Fillet it, season the fillet and pan fry it in butter. Put it in between hamburger buns with lettuce and tomato and u wont regret it. Im from Puerto Rico and we go crazy for them. Another good way is if u clean it and leave it whole and season it and add veggies and put it in the oven. Really good

The glass nose thing you caught is called moi Ive here in Hawaii and when they get bigger like 2-3 pounds they are super good eating. They are known as the kings fish as only kings were granted this fish. Thats how good it is.

We call them shad in the Bahamas and they swim in schools. We normally use crab legs to catch them or conch or shrimp and they are an awesome frying fish! Gotta join you one of these days Bro!

Just descale, clean the guts. Ad some salt, garlic powder, flour them. And deep well fried.
And eat them whole. I mean all. Are great tasting.

I only managed to net two of those sand perch today for bait. Theyre super delicate it seems. They both died almost instantly in the bucket.

How do you get around the Landshark copyright issues using the same name and a very similar logo as Jimmy Buffett's landshark trademark?

Thanks for the video. I would like a t-shirt. You need to put the same logo on the back, just larger. What do you think? :-)

Here in Hawaii if you would use a glass nose ( we call them moi here ) people would be irritated because they are a delicacy here
