Have taken many trips to Bahamas on live aboard dive charters. I have seen dozens of egg bearing loblerts shot, shorts, etc brought on boat. Several times I actually found lobster in holes on the reef, dead, holes in them, pregnant. The killer realized what they had done and put it back in the hole so as not to be lectured back on board. Bahamas should outlaw spearing lobsters.

Many of Floridas inshore lobster are undersize. You cant put back a speared undersized lobster. Also in the late Summer start of Lobster season, some females may still be holding eggs. You cant put back a speared lobster with eggs.

The grouper is a nassau grouper. You can tell by the saddle spot on its tail. Its a threatened species btw. Super hard to identify them before shooting.

in the US you cant spear them because of exactly what you stated, its difficult to judge the size. And you cant put the dead under size lobster back.

I live in the Bahamas. For lobster their carapace has to be 3 inches or the tail has to be 5 and a half. I dont know of an actual person limit
