If you couldn't Match the Hatch and you figured out what those closed-mouth bass wanted to open their bucket, I would have possibly gone back to the truck and headed over to the Clewiston Wally-World or local Tackle store to see if there was something there small enough to try (small beetle-spin maybe. To be honest, as you asked the other fisherman, the bass were like ice-boxes and the best part of valor for most was to do what you did, and simply enjoy the wildlife. you'll get 'em next time! (Bedding Bass season is comin' up, ya' know)

1/2 oz. spinner with Colorado blades. would have to be on lake to determine if gold or silver blades and bait color. maybe pumpkin or possibly something blue/green and white but again, depends on shadows and water color and how baitfish reflect light that day. Run it just under surface to imitate a group of baitfish.
Tough days make us better anglers. at least thats what I tell myself when beer thirty comes earlier than planned

Sorry for the struggle on such a great fishery ( one thats certainly on my bucket list ) A couple of things to consider as far as what to throw, I love to fly fish so I almost always carry a fly rod which might have worked and I also carry a small tray of micro type lures but at the end of the day you can match the hatch and still get a little stinky from the skunk. Tight lines

Nice video bro great content. My buddy Brandon Barret was just there a few weeks ago with FLW Costa and came out 68th in the tournament. He said the same thing, it was a hard lake. Keep bringing the videos us Midwestern guys enjoy seeing some fish caught. I might have tried a small Bomber bait mini square bill. Anyway God bless and keep casting brother.

Great video content, as always! I would have tried a small rapala topwater minnow or suspending lure. When the water cools smaller movements and longer pauses sometimes work well. May not have worked though in a lake with such heavy pressure (sure those bass have seem it all.
Keep up the good work sir, and avoid those gators!

Hey Robert, I was just curious are you still doing the field trips of all 50 states and if you are are you going to come to Wyoming. If you do you should come to Laramie and I can take you out trout fishing. I have a sea ghost 130 and would love to take you out and get you on some 20+ size rainbow and brown trout.

Looks like a small bass assassin fluke would have down well that day. Especially a tandem style Donkey Rig. I have a super clear lake near by that gets a ton of pressure and when they are chasing baitfish like that the flukes seem to produce. Rigging them tandem gives it a different look also.

Lake Fork Trophy Lures LIve Magic Shad is my go to for heavy, heavy grass and pads. You rig it on a belly weighted swim bait hook with a screw-lock so it's weedless. You can drag it over the pads just like a frog and they will blow up on it the same. Keep up the good work man!

For that situation, I think my go to bait would have been a Zman Finesse TRD Black/Blue Flake, The Deal, or a California Craw color with a 1/10th or 1/16th oz NED head depending on the wind. Two little pops if your bottom allows it with a very long pause.

Very good video man! Trip looks great, don't worry about small fish, that's fishing I think maybe bigger fish was on deeper water. spinners and rapalas should do the job.
Where did you get that blue top? Looks class with hood and face shield!
