you could. Not if youre fishing in heavy cover like lots of lilypads or reeds and bullrushes and what not. You would have to hook it and then go in after it with your bots so your line doesnt snap. If youre fishing docks youd be okay. You should use braid for flipping.

Awesome Scott, it's my dream to fish the Big-O one day! I really wish you and the other anglers would go a little more indepth about rod and line size, baits etc. at the end of the show. I love the Scott Martin Challenge though, always pick up a few good pointers!

I wouldn't recomend it. You could catch big bass with 16lb line but you would have to play the fish longer and you would probably loose them in the weeds. You need heavier lb test so you can get the fish out of the weeds quick.

Scott, are you a lefty? I see you are using a right handed reel and casting with your left. That feels unnatural to me but I could learn if there is a reason.
