RTX3080 third-party vs RTX3090
RTX3090 has about 20% more CUDA cores but due to lower frequencies and diminishing returns yada yada gaming performance is closer to around 9% advantage to the RTX3090 currently AFAIK... once we get some improved RTX3080 cards that should close the gap even more (unless we get 3rd party RTX3090 cards). Either way, as said it's the extra VRAM that's the benefit and spending way more money to future proof for games that eventually need more VRAM is an incredible waste of money... sure the odd game might benefit from more than 10GB in the next couple years in which case you can probably just turn down a few settings but then of course you can take the MONEY YOU SAVED and just buy a better video card in a couple years anyway.
Or hold off if you're really worried and see what is offered in the 12GB to 16GB range from both NVidia and AMD (though I wouldn't buy an RTX3070 16GB card if the processing power is similar to an RTX3070 but with more VRAM as you're just back to wasting your money as a gamer though it MAY be a great card for certain professional tasks depending on the price).

Really? come on the fact you can do real 8k without needing multiple cables running from the GPU to the TV/Monitor and the fact demanding games will even run at 30+fps on high settings over 10-15 fps on low as they did on the 2080Ti is amazing. People praised the FuryX/980Ti and 10 series for running 4k at medium/low settings to hit 30-60fps, even needing SLI in some cases, but now the 3090 is getting hate by many people because its only hitting 30-40fps and on high?....err and so now DLSS cheating? so DLSS went from being the future why wouldn't you use it to cheating?
If you can afford an 8k TV or Monitor then yes this 1,500 GPU is a gaming GPU for you. It is also a gaming GPU for anyone who uses very high textured mods and shaders that will really use that VRAM, and its 1,000 cheaper than the Titan RTX.

Hmmm there's a few things I am curious about, regarding this card, the 3080, and the alleged 3080 20GB version. And thats the future. We're soon getting the direct storage API that bypasses the CPU (we already have GPU scheduling as well...), and basically offload more and more to the GPU. While I fully agree with the Techsias here, I do feel that VRAM (apart from framebuffer) might be more of a factor going forward (not right now, obviously). Same for PCIe gen4... especially on fully crammed buses. The second usecase might be higher fov + density VR headsets...

lol, pretty disappointed in GN I have to say. Nvidia clearly stated that you buy this card for 8k gaming, not for any gaming. 4K and below results are irrelevant even based on Nvidia marketing. Also all nvidia led marketing for 8k clearly stated that they are compromising on graphics, I've known since yesterday that you can't just turn everything up and expect good performance. But I guess GN aren't strangers to acting dumb for the sake of generating views.

Yeah. There are certain gaming niches where this could be really good: I.e VR flight sims where a dual 4k setup is pretty awesome, even at 60fps, but they're all written in DirectX 11 right now so are all single thread performance limited, so yeah. Turns out a 1080 Ti is all I can actually do anything with at the moment, until either AMD and Intel come out with faster CPUs, or some of the developers finish refactoring their code base.
:/

This is probably such a niche want but, Canon released a camera with H.265 10 bit 422 recordings.. and that is one of the decodings that Nvidia skipped last gen. I hope that even with the Av1 announcement, they also added that flavor and just aren't marketing it. I can't seems to find the 3000 series on their website's spreadsheet, maybe I'm just missing it.

In optimization lies dragons .. the BEST optimization is to find another algorithm not to rename registers and what not branch predicting which brought us .. spectre .. next big optimisations might lie in machine learning and neuromorphic computing, but we probably will have to drop some precision in the process

Hi I don't no if your going to do a video on this so I wanted to ask the question Is there a case/ motherboard that does not cause any bottlenecks in cooling and performance for this card being its size and power requirements. will note not wanting the card for gaming but for designing thanks

3080 is not a good card... not enough vram, too hot, too power hungry... they should have put at least 12 to 16 gig of vram...maybe the 3080ti will be a better buy...but if you have a 1080ti, just wait for the next architecture, a smaller node and more memory for the price

As developer/cg artist the advertisement as a gaming card pisses me off the most... I might have had at least a tiny chance of getting one of the 250 units available in germany if it weren t for all the gamers ready to blow money up nvidias ass for the kicks.
