Hello dear GN team, as always great content. I would be quite interested in seeing the performance of the two 3090 via nvlink in 3D rendering benchmarks. I'm a freelance 3D artist using Vray and I will be getting a 3090 for said work. You don't need nvlink/SLI to linearly scale the rendering performance. The one and only reason why it is interesting is because you can double the VRAM which is crucial for projects that require it. Not enough VRAM has been one of the main reasons why GPU rendering has not yet overtaken CPU rendering across the industry. You can buy Quadros that have more of it but those are mostly too expensive and even then the max VRAM has been lower than using CPU&RAM.
It seems that the use of an nvlink for sake more VRAM does slightly negatively affect the rendering speed (I assume because the vram synchronization needs more calculation) but I would love to see the actual numbers for that as well.

Nice Work, first 3090 SLi test i see
but;
- missing compare with a RTX2080 ti SLi / NVlink setup - to show what game lack's Support and what is the gain
- Test of old games with DX11 SLi support - like Fallout 4 , World of Tanks, World of Warcraft etc. ( i think every free to play game have sli support for setups with low cards ) or missunderstand something and 3080 sli dont support DX11 ? ( now ?!? and later with newer driver ? the 3000er Launch is a mess - like always)
Nvidia says that he not make new SLi Profiels for DX11 games after 1.1.2021 - becouse new games more Vulcan / DX12 - and here nvidia can not bring SLi after game relase, the low level api don't support this - the game developer must build in .... so please don't say SLi is dead - and yes 3080 come without NVlink bridge - chame on nvidia.

I just ordered a 3090 sli system (ordered for the first time from an SI because I can t get my hands on GPUs otherwise). I ve had SLI systems since the 3-way GTX 480 and it s sad to see SLI support land where it has today. There are some older games I still play with SLI support (Destiny 2, WoW, GTAV) that is hoping to get at close to a locked 4K 120hz. That being said, this will probably be my last SLI system.
As always, great content and just because of this video on SLI I will join your Patreon. Thanks for all that you do in the industry.

I feel I must say that there is more to NVLink than SLI, and I think there is a reason they added a new 3rd Gen NVLink to the 3090 that doubles the bandwidth of NVLink 2.0. Research, scientific, and potentially industrial applications that utilize very large datasets may take advantage of NVLink and developers can use the 3090 to adapt their software to take advantage of 3.0 prior to the new Quadro cards being released on the market or in workstations. SLI is merely an extra feature the market can take advantage of if wanted.

Now i wonder what 3080 SLI vs a 3090 would be like,i know SLI is dead on the 3080,but i am curious what it would have been capable of on the supported games , if 2x 3080s would perform better then a 3090,what would be the point of the 3090... maybe thats why they killed SLI on the 3080
I think its possible for someone to try to mod a 3080 into sli,i think its just a matter of time, maybe a matter of stock.

no blender render times? i mean i'd expect a rough 1.8 time decrease bound by cpu and pci-e bus sharing throwing data at it. i'd be interested tho if a threadripper could asyncly feed hbv data to both cards at full x16 pci-e width. not that the pipeline allows improvements there. cpu is usually in a wait state while the card is tracing, anyway.

Please add 5/8K DSR benches all maxed out. TAA high or 2-4xMSAA is fine in RDR2 though, because 8xMS does kill everything.
That should be where two cards really are going to shine over one.
Thanks anyway for the first 4K benches with this very unique custom setup.
RDR2 should have been maxed out for additional test 4K...one 3090 vs. two.

back in the day, getting 6600GT in SLI was the shit ... i guess butchering the 6800 Ultra was not appealing to nvidia :D
I had 6800GT sli, 2600XT CF, 7800GTX SLI, 970 SLI - i did not have issues with any of them .. i had some games that did not scale, sure - but the majority did - also having the option to run 16xFSAA was a nice alternative :)

Sli... wait wait didn't Nvidia is about to plug out the service for SLI ?or it just for the 10s series? Also why do people really need SLI with 3090 GPU seriously why!? Do they really use 99.99% of thier cards? Should I say it differently do they really get 99.99% out of their cards?..

That moment when your pc hogs power like an active electric kettle. Difference be your e-kettle only runs for 4 minutes when you need to heat your self some hot water... imagine the electricity bill running this unit for 8+ hours per day
