Major news for the week includes AMD's acknowledgement of the USB dropout complaints on Zen 3 platforms, particularly with Gen4 GPUs. We'll also talk Intel i5-11600K vs. 5600X leaks & more. Beni: I've been having the USB Dropout thing for weeks! didn't know it was a widespread issued, I tried everything, nothing worked, so I decided to reinstall windows to see if it fixes, but I can't perform a backup to my external drive cause the connection keeps dropping
5600X and RX590 on AGESA 1.1.9.0 with you guys want to try to reproduce the issue

Huh, interesting to hear about these USB connectivity issues being an AMD thing. I've had to install Windows for work last week and that is one of the plethora of constant problems that I've been having to deal with. Minor on my end, especially comparing to other issues I've had (with a Zenith, a Radeon VII and a 1920X, so not even the mentioned config) but still annoying because Windows (being the super robust officially supported OS that it is) freaks out for a second every time it happens.
Would prefer instead if they could actually provide working drivers for Navi on Linux because right now, I have to get rid of my 5700XT Red Devil as it's a great card that will just crash the entire computer at random, so great stuff all around (the machine for this one IS an X570 with a 3600X, actually. But never had any USB issues, probably because it being for media and gaming only, this one never had windows)

Got a 5900x and a 3080 TUF OC on a ROG Strix B550-E. The peripherals I've been having issues with are my Corsair K68 KB, Ironclaw mouse and my Logitech StreamCam.
My 2 go-to tests to reproducing the issues are,
1. Connect the KB+M to USB 2.0 ports, Start a screen share on Discord. KB+M immediately starts freezing.
2. Start the Nvidia Broadcast camera and select the 1080p input (either 60 or 30FPS), Use the Nvidia Broadcast Camera in Discord or Zoom. The camera immediately starts glitching with flashes.
Both issues can be solved by dropping the GPU Lane to PCI-E 3.0 in the BIOS.
Currently I just keep the KB+M connected to USB 3.0 ports in the back and run the GPU as PCI-E 3.0 when I'm WFH or using Discord streaming.

the usb disconnect reminds me of my p6t-se x58, cause both likes to disconnect using shitty hubs or under constant load if the cpu is somewhat lacking the voltage to keep up, so my solution is just to bump the voltage 1 notch and the issue disappears, then again my board is a B450 not B550
and for some reason, some peripherals just doesnt like my board and just wont be detected (looking at you kinect), so i fixed it by buying a 15 usb pcie card and decent brand usb hubs like orico lol
also heavy thunderstorm will force a usb disconnect, i guess thats just a safety feature from my biostar b450gt3 board

Steve try USB powered speakers. On Zen 2 with my B550 gaming edge wifi with a vega 64 my speakers drop out all of the time normally happens when waking up after sleep or just waking the monitor. I also have the oocasional usb drop on boot with my keyboard and it won't come on until i unplug it and plug it back in. I use Logitech G560 speakers. I also have latest bios with combopi 1.2.0.0.

Talk about life giving you lemons and making lemonade. I say, good on that Internet cafe in Vietnam. They can t make money from letting people game, so they can turn their hardware to a temporarily profitable exercise, survive the pandemic restrictions and maybe one day get back to providing people with sociable access to gaming.

Facing the USB dropout issue here. My hardware combo is: MSI Tomahawk X570 + Ryzen 5800X + RTX 3070. For me, only the USB 2.0 ports seem to be affected. If I connect my mouse or my headset there, they'll drop out randomly. Dropping the GPU to Gen 3 mode or switching my devices to the USB3 ports works around the issue.

A SUGGESTION FOR APRIL FOOLS(Attempt 4):
Perform some thermal tests on a very old computer(preferably 80s microcomputer or even an IBM PC compatible) with one twist: pretend that they are some new stuff(hopefully a collaboration with LGR). Of course, that's assuming you can borrow one in the worst case.

The amd dropout happens to me. I have 3090fe 5800x and asus strix x570. Also once and a while I get no second nvme drive. My mouse will disconnect usb, once every 3 or 4 hours. Or not at all. Seems to be connected to infinity fabric overclock. Which will disconnect my mouse much more frequently.

From what I've gathered the pool of bit coin is drying up quite rapidly. Bringing daily yeald down by a third from the peak. What are the chances. A tidal wave of ex mining cards will bombard e bay before summer. As the mega farms sell there rigs as runing them is no longer facially viable .
