I for one, have _never_ even had what could be considered even a fine experience with a prebuilt computer. My first one, as a kid, was a Gateway. Suffice to say, the only part of the whole system, that _didn't fail_ within warranty, was the floppy disk drive. The more recent example was when university was selling some still working prebuilt computers for really cheap, so i picked up a dell with a monitor. In the case of the Dell, there was a standard interface port for a video card. No video card _ever_ worked in it. The only working video output, was the integrated one. Everything else would crash even on the desktop, let alone before launching anything that would use its resources.
Never mind, when others want me to fix their computers which are guaranteed to be this proprietary, prebuilt junk. Suffice to say, I've had enough of doing this for anyone.

I am quite pleased with my 3080 system from Skytech. No problems. Super fast. Awesome case. The PNY 3080 I got runs as good or better than anything I've seen from the popular cards.
I think I'm going to bump up the 750 gold psu to at least 850 though.
PC Builder said plug all your components into partspicker multiply the watts it shows by 1.5....I get about 802. I've heard the cards can be spiky, maybe getting bumps higher than the 750 can cover?
I understand power LIMITS and voltage limits...those can be tweaked if you want.
It seems to very hard to find out what power reliability means in HWinfo. PSU can't keep up? House wiring sucks? Mobo?

there is one upside of prebuilts, is when they sell it 2nd hand and the users don't know how much they are worth anymore. Managed to get a 5700XT 3700X prebuilt for 850. Sold the gpu because it is too overpriced to keep, made back my money and bought a 2060 for 300. So basically a 2060 + 3700X pc for 300-350
Also, the k95 corsair keyboard, they are selling the new XT model, which you compared with a non XT model. Its still overpriced, but not by that much

Unpacked my mat with my teenage daughter today. She loves it, and it gave me a chance to teach her some basic PC/electronics terms as well as explaining ESD. Now we are both looking forward to using it to do some projects together. Thanks for making your mats so cool! Quality is also absolutely top notch; and I ve bought a lot of commercial ESD mats over the years. She says the middle graphic looks like the Death Star

22:48 - PVB464G360C8K and PVS464G360C8K from Patriot.
These are 64GB RAM kits that literally run ABOVE their ABSOLUTE MAXIMUM VOLTAGE RATING of only 1.3V and they _DO destroy themselves under XMP._
Mine were getting UNSTABLE as you raised the voltage above 1.25V while XMP ran them at 1.35V. Same on the 2 kits I had. It's amazing how many hours of my life this garbage hardware wasted.

I bought an MSI Pre-built just to get a 2060 Super as an upgrade. Sorry Steve I know MSI has been on your shit list in the recent past. Its funny you mention the XMP and the missing drives. XMP was not enabled and The secondary drive wasn't even connected. Despite all this its still better than the Alienware I had before. My last two PC upgrades came during GPU shortages.

All non tech savvy people need to watch this before buying. This is getting worse and worse as PCs become a necessity in every home. Ive been seeing the same during Newegg Shuffle. Pairing RTX3090s and 6900XTs with a 750W PSU... or 5950X with a B550 board. WHY?! If youre buying a high end piece of hardware you would want the other components to be above the minimum.

I didn't want to get a prebuilt but I did last year in order to get a 3080 from NZXT. It looked great, but would randomly shut down. Got it fixed under warranty and so far it works, but always gives me anxiety anytime I turn it on. Looking back at my purchase a PC with an RTX 3080 was a steal compared to current inflated prices for a 3080 by itself!

HP makes it real difficult to cancel order. They postponed my order shipment 2 time. Their sales ppl lied to me about my order being shipped out. They won't cancel my order although in their email they say I can cancel it. They say it's going to ship and that if I no longer want it, I can refund it. RESTOCKING FEES . Never buying from HP again!

Lots of valid points...but you can't really blame OEMs and SIs for some of this stuff, particularly RGB and anemic CPU water coolers. These things are actual system sellers in the prebuilt market. It's the fault of the customers. And if we take an honest look at the PC building community: RGB before function is definitely a trend here too.
