Our Valve Steam Deck tear-down and full disassembly shows all the parts, PCBs, cooling design, and talks about component-level details of the VRM and ICs. Walter: For me Valve not using ARM is what will kill this device as x86 isn't efficient enough. The Apple M1 chip is more powerful, uses less power, doesn't throttle and doesn't need cooling.... it also scales really well. Valve have broken away from Windows and pushed for Linux, so why not break away from x86 as well? I mean Apple proved you can emulate x86 on ARM really well, so it's not like compatibility has to be any more of an issue than it is now. What is Nvidia up to? Surely they're making something to compete with Apple? Otherwise everyone is going to be in for a shock when no one can compete with the M2, M3, M4 etc etc. I don't get why everyone is just focusing on x86...

So, I gotta prep to go to work. I've got 45 minutes to shower, get dressed, and have a relaxing drink.
Wait, what? Did GN drop a video? It's a Steamdeck teardown? It's almost 35 minutes long? Well, forgo the shower and a drink, we'll rush getting dressed after watching this!

It's funny people all over twitter are quoting the latency numbers you posted even though you said they don't mean much in this context

I really hope you test replacement M.2 2230 SSDs, like Kioxia BG4. Valve's concern is wifi interference and power draw.

Just woke up and having coffee, such a perfect timing for the upload. Cheers GN for your fast and comprehensive tear down!
