Hey everyone, I need some advice. First off my rig is old, I know. Please don't blast it too much! I mainly needed it for school and light gaming when I built it 5 years ago. Intel I5-3570k with Hyper 212 Evo cooler ASrock Z77 Pro 4 mobo Sapphire Radeon 7770 HD OC 1gb Edition 8 (2X4) Gb Crucial Ballistic DDR3 - 1600 WD 1 TB Win 10 64, + 2 more hhd and 2 CD rom drives. My issue is I know my GPU needs upgraded, I just need advice to what? I know the processor is still good enough as it handles the loads I put on it well. I noticed lately playing Astroneer that now if I have a separate window open watching YouTube music videos, it starts to skip. It always did that on Fallout 4, and I haven't attempted any newer games because I already know I'd be playing stop-motion gaming. Should I upgrade to the Sapphire Pulse Radeon Rx 5700 xt or the Sapphire Pulse Radeon Rx 580? The 580 is half the price and is a massive improvement from the 7770. I don't need insane graphics or settings (even though I have (3) 1440x900 monitors in Eyefinity. I just want to play Astroneer, Fallout 4, maybe finally check out Starcraft II, while a second browser window is open playing YouTube music videos or PBS Kids Seasame Street episodes. ( for the 1 year old, the struggle is real) What do you think? Is the 5700 overkill right now at 400 for my needs. Will the 580 do what I need? Thanks

Hopefully someone can help me here, I just bought this card and it's been a disaster. i'm coming from a gtx 1080 and while this card is only a slight upgrade i bought it to be able to play on my Freesync samsung q80r 55. i uninstalled the nvidia drivers 1st, removed the gtx, installed the saphire and the latest radeon drivers and can't seem to get any of my games to be consistantly smooth. freesync is turned on in the drivers and the TV itself. Is there some special trick i'm missing out on to get the card to work properly? any tips appreciated. I'm considering sending the card back and staying with Nvidia and just paying the extra money.

I just want to say that I originally bought the MSI Mech 5700xt and the thermals especially on vram and junction temps were absolutely horrible! Even with a 90% fan curve (which sounded like a jet engine) I was getting vram temps around 88 degrees. I switched to the sapphire after watching this review and I am amazed by how much better this card is. Vram temps rarely go above 76 degrees on STOCK fan settings and with a custom fan curve they are rarely going above 68 degrees. I am so happy I switched to this card and thanks for the amazing review!

That cooler isn't great, but it isn't terrible either. For reference, here are the temps I'm getting on my 5700 XT with a die-only Maze4 water block with small heatsinks on the card from a 10 40 piece raspberry pie cooling kit on Amazon with a low speed 120mm fan over the card: GPU 2150MHz (rarely dips below 2. 1GHz under load) +50% powerplay 1230mv: 29c idle, 52-55c load. TJunction: 29c idle, 73c load GDDR6 900Mhz: 32c idle, 74c load VRM: 30c idle, 58c load. Mem1 VRM: 31c idle, 49c load Mem2VRM: 31c idle, 57c load

My card goes to 3000RPM anytime I try to put any load on it. It is quiet, idle, but otherwise it's really loud and the only thing I can do for it to be quiet is to undervolt it by quite a lot. Does anyone have the same problem with this card? The noise is really not bearable. Also I can't lock the fan RPM, It is doing whatever it wants, even if I change the fan curve. For me it seems that the temps are quite high 80c and 105-108c junction. Any help will be appreciated.

Hi, your videos are really helpful. I wanted to ask you, I am building PC and generally specs: 3900x, Trident Z 3200 CL16 32GB and AsuX570-E. Now I am between Asus 2070 Super OC and Asus 5700XT OC. I am a professional photographer and graphic designer, also playing the game (but not hard gamer. Mostly using, Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom, In Design, sometimes streaming as well and also rarely 3D Max, MS Office. Could you please suggest/advice me to buy which GPU?

Steve love the review. Can I get your opinion? I just got the reference model XFX 5700 on sale for 419 CDN (Regular price here 459. I set the fan to 30% 1700 RPM (for anything above 50C) via the Wattman app and it hits around 85C and 1675 MHz on the GPU after hours of gaming in the Division 2. Seems a tick quieter than my ASUS Rog Strix OC RX580 was. I can return it for the Sapphire Pulse version priced at 499 CDN. Would you bother?

great review! I bought this Pulse card after watching your review, and totally satisfied. one thing I'm concerning of is memory module temperature. to maintaining 80 Celsius degree during 4k gaming, it needs to control fan speed around 2100 2400 rpm. in that case GPU temp is around 65 70 and memory junction temp is around 78 82. but I'm not sure if I really need to take care of memory temp that I've never been worried about before.

i have 2 x 12 cm be quiet coolers pointing to my sapphire 5700xt - and the cooler on sapphire only spins when i boot PC, after boot 4-5 seconds they are completely turn off DEAD quiet. I DON'T like red design elements and red BRIGHT sapphire LED i don't know if there a way to turn it off. Other than that very impressive card for what i do. Light gaming, 4k movies and some video editing.

This card is about 5-10% slower than the 2070 Super, however the 2070 Super costs 25% more than this card ON A GOOD DAY! Right now, finding a 2070 Super for under 500 is tough. If AMD can keep supply of these GPUs and other board manufacturers can also keep prices close to the 400-420 mark. nVidia is going to need to drop prices again on those fancy Super cards.
