Corsair iCUE 465X RGB Case Review: Glass with Airflow, Sort Of

Corsair's iCUE 465X RGB case mixes RGB LEDs and glass, like most cases, but does actually space its front panel meaningfully off the chassis. Sponsor: Buy Be Quiet! 's Straight Power 11 PSUs (Amazon - Corsair 465X iCUE RGB Alternative: NZXT H700 (Amazon): Alternative: Cooler Master H500P Mesh (Amazon): Article (goes live 5 minutes after video): This review of the Corsair 465X case looks at build quality, thermals, noise, and ease-of-installation features, with a focus on testing whether the front spacing for the glass panel is actually effective. The case itself is a rehash of the Corsair 460X, and should be priced at about 150- 160. Pricing is partly impacted by tariffs and partly by the glass and LEDs, which unfortunately inflate MSRP beyond what the chassis really feels worth. We have a new GN store:

Are there any cases that have the side glass panel on the right side? Or one that can be flipped over to diplay components when placed on the left side of the desk? It would be nice for there to be one that the m/b could be installed upsidedown. The way my son's room has to be arranged to fit all his furniture plus his computer desk, the computer has to be on the left side for it to be safely by the wall. He can't display his bada components (namely his 2080ti that he conned grandma out of for his xmas & birthday, and I won't let him place it on the right side (to fall off) or on the floor. Although he is a very good 16 yo boy, he is still a 16yo boy lol. Any suggestions would be awesome.

Did Corsair make new fans for this case? IIRC the white LL120s were 2, 200 RPM, the black ones are 1500RPM. I think it's also worth factoring in the fan prices, white 3 pack LL120s go for 120 - 130 USD and rarely go on sale vs the standard case fans everyone throws out. The 90 ones you mentioned were for the black LL120 1500RPM. Meanwhile their most basic 3 pack fans are 30-40. RGB tax is real, I may buy this for the fans and sell the case, thanks GN! EDIT: I'm dumb, I see the fans are black in the case they sent you. But Corsair's product page shows white fans with the white case except in one picture. I'm glad I watched this- pretty sneaky, Corsair. Making me want to leave your ecosystem.

In the thumbnail for this video, the GN guy looks like a Jedi. Just the lighting making his hair kind of blend into the shirt like a big robe, but it was amusing. Anyway, I wanted to suggest a case-modding episode, showing people how to do something about these glass cases, on all sides, spacing the glass out. Like what off-the-shelf, easily-orderable hardware parts would be a good bet for that kind of thing (preferably with with some rubber or something in there somewhere to prevent later noisy vibrations. There are so, so many glass-based cases these days, and they look nice, but they're clearly going to be the slow, suffocating death of a lot of expensive systems.

The 465X here isn't attractive at all, & I'm not a fan of glass front panels. I'm building a new air-cooled ATX system this month & went with the Corsair iCUE 220T (Black) case instead & doing a black/gray stealth NON-RGB build. I'm stripping out the tacky RGB stock 120mm fans & replacing them with the better Corsair PRO NON-RGB black 120mm 4-pin PWM fans (3 front, 1 exhaust. Despite being an ATX case, it is a tad smaller than my previous 2015 mATX Phanteks ENTHOO EVOLV (White) case, & still feels pretty sturdy for a lightweight mid-range case. My Phanteks case is a lot heavier, thicker & bulky in comparison, but it is a pretty expensive premium case that costs over 150.

I rabidly approve of the Front IO staying in place when the front panel is removed. This is one of my absolute favorite features of the case I'm currently using. I'm still dreaming of the day when manufacturers sell alternative Front IO clusters as an addon item. It'd be nice to upgrade just the IO so I could take full advantage of my motherboard's features. (Though, I guess there's always case-modding. if you have the skills, or don't care if it ends up looking like a junior high science project)

It's really close to their previous crystal 460X just now it has addressable RGB fans, an extra 1/2 front glass spacing and they just replaced the two piece adjustable PSU shroud with a full length one piece one that just chokes off the GPU from getting any of the lower front intake fan's cool air: / At a 160. Really, I mean as for the older 460X case I was able to get that on Amazon Prime day this year for just 89. I guess these higher prices are just another product of those tariffs on China: (

I hate how little space Corsair leaves behind the motherboard for cable management. I hate it even more when they take what little space there is and fill it full of drive sleds and pre-routed cables that I have to somehow work around because the case won't close if I run a wire over any of those things. Seriously Corsair, I have had cases that were too tall to go under my desk or too deep, but I have never had a case that was too wide. Add another half an inch for the love of god!

This case's target audiance are people who want decent RGB fans and the iCUE ecosystem. The fans is really most of the price here. It is almost hard to compare cases as they are so different. Also many case fans are sleeve bearing with only tach. These have PWM and are hydro bearing. In all if you want a mid tower with Corsair LL fans at around 150, then this is for you. If you don't like these fans, there are better options.

I get why manufacturers want glass to work. It looks cool with RGB lighting. Mesh looks significantly less cool that way. The good news is that right now, the case is only 120 on Newegg thanks to a 10 off coupon, and has a 20 rebate. So now it's a 100 case. I just picked a white one up along with a H110i Platinum, and since I use Corsair keyboard/mouse/headset, I can control the lighting in a single app.

Not a bad case it seems, but rather dated since it's essentially a carbon copy of the 2 year old 460X. Most definitely NOT worth 160. At best 90. Not a single feature makes it worth this much. Apparently they use those LL120 fans to skyrocket the price up a couple notches. I'll take the Lian Li O11 over this any day. Or, even the cheaper and better built Phanteks P400A.
